Birthday best for Aiden Moffat
Aiden Moffat – the youngest driver ever to race in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship – celebrates his 18th birthday today (28 September) and as an added bonus, the Dalkieth-based racer secured his best ever spot on the grid in qualifying yesterday.
The Laser Tools Racing driver is making strong progress in his first full year racing in the championship and will line up fifteenth for race one at ‘the home of British motor sport’. The family-run squad has recently teamed up with Ciceley Motorsport to help prepare and develop the Chevrolet Cruze, and starting in a top fifteen position gives Moffat the perfect platform for some strong results.
There will be celebrations aplenty in the Laser Tools camp at the end of the day, but Aiden’s mind is on the three BTCC showdowns to come. He said, “It’s great to be starting further up the grid today – we tried something new and the car was good.
“The team is having a bit of fun today and embarrassing me a bit! But while we know how to have fun we’re a professional outfit and the focus is on the racing until tonight!”
