WIX Filters extends title sponsor partnership with Ciceley Motorsport
WIX Filters is delighted to announce it will continue as Ciceley Motorsport’s title sponsor for the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
The confirmation will see two-time race winner Adam Morgan driving the WIX Racing Mercedes A-Class for a third consecutive campaign. The hugely successful partnership has been the catalyst for both Morgan and Ciceley Motorsport’s rise through the BTCC ranks. Such has been their progress that Morgan is now considered an established front-runner in Britain’s biggest motor sport series, culminating in the Lancashire driver currently enjoying his most competitive BTCC season to date.
A maiden race win in 2014 helped Morgan to a top ten overall finish in the championship standings, whilst victory at Thruxton and four further podiums leave him in contention for a higher finish this year with just two race weekends remaining. Morgan is currently third in the Independents’ Driver table with WIX Racing lying second of the Independents’ Teams.
It is projected that the early completion of this deal will enable the squad to continue building on its momentum and development over the winter, before launching a genuine title assault next season.
Adam Morgan said: “This is absolutely brilliant news. WIX Filters really are a part of our family team. WIX have been a massive driving force behind-the-scenes in promoting the team and helping to make us to gain respect within the BTCC paddock. I honestly think that our Mercedes-Benz A-Class is one of the best looking cars on the grid and our hospitality unit fits in really well with those surrounding it. There are two events left in this year’s campaign and now we can go into the winter with the knowledge that next year is already organised.”
Norman Burgess, Ciceley Commercial & Marketing Manager, said: “It’s fantastic that WIX Filters has committed their generous support to the team for a third successive season. I can’t begin to explain just how important that is to a race car team. Title sponsorship isn’t simply about chucking a load of money at a team – all parties have aims to achieve and WIX Filters have also been instrumental in the promotion of Adam and Ciceley Motorsport. We do an unbelievable amount of work behind-the-scenes supporting each other. We enjoy each other’s company, which is important, and have taken part in two 24-hour Charity Karting events, we play golf and have embarked on the occasional epic night out – work hard, play hard!
“We appreciate everything that WIX does for our team. I don’t think there will be many teams in any discipline that enjoy the relationship we share with WIX, they’re a massive positive influence on our team. The people of WIX will always be a big part of our team, title sponsors or not… we win and lose together on track. We are WIX Racing.”
Wayne Stevens, WIX Filters Managing Director, said: “We are pleased to continue supporting Adam Morgan and Ciceley Motorsport for another year in 2016. WIX Racing has really grown from strength-to-strength since partnering Ciceley Motorsport in 2014, which has shown in the results this season with five podiums, including the win at Thruxton. Motorsport is a big part of WIX Filters’ heritage spanning some 50 years involvement, starting with NASCAR in the U.S.
“We find the partnership a unique and engaging way of promoting the WIX Filters brand, and the team’s core family derived values and professional ethics not only match that of WIX, it also sees all the team involved deliver a first class event on and off track for our VIP customers and loyal supporters. A pinnacle sign of the brand’s reach, combined with the team’s hard work, was realised when we were asked if the WIX Mercedes could be positioned in the formidable Forza 6 released recently as a launch car. For us, this only highlights the reach of the BTCC platform with the right partnership. We are very much looking forward to the 2016 BTCC season ahead.”
