Burns was a late bloomer in motor sport, with his career beginning in his late teens back in 2010.
Club racing allowed Burns to make himself known, and impressive performances in a lightly-modified Ford Fiesta 1400cc saw him secure sponsorship to compete in the Ginetta GT5 Challenge in 2011. Three years, seven victories and 10 podiums later, Burns stepped up to the higher-powered GT4 Supercup in 2014 with Academy Motorsport.
Halfway through that season, Burns took his first GT4 podium, at Croft on the way to four visits to the rostrum in total and seventh in the standings.
He was runner up in the championship in 2016 with Douglas Motorsport before making the jump into Britain’s premier motor racing championship this season with Tony Gilham’s Team HARD.
