I bought my copy in Halfords before christmas. In my local one they still have copies on the shelf so give them a try.

Bought mine in the local WHSmiths just after Chrimbo.... can't help it being a little disappointed, less of a insight on other things, it has just got the races...

Halfords stock Duke - otherwise I haven't seen them in the 'high-street' stores (apart from a couple of exceptions - crash videos and f1 related).
Tend to buy mine [DVD] on-line.. saves on the legs too..
The 2002 DVD is a round up of the on-track action from each race. Edited down from the tv aired highlights.
The 'tales from the tarmac' video/dvd also released at the end of last year features 'highlights' from 1991 to 2002.. Okay if you don't have existing videos covering these years but the coverage isn't in any great detail obviously.

I tape all the races off TV as well but still get the DVD/video review - the tv races are an hour each x10-12 is 10-12hours of tape - and prior to 2001 there were live races which make that even longer. Sometimes is good to watch the 3hr review instead, so I still reckon its worth buying the reviews.
An additional point is that I think its a shame that there is never anything different on the review - the bonus bits are just the same as was on TV - eg a Charlie Cox look at British drivers (as in 1999) or following Matt Neal round at Snetterton (2002). The 1998 review got a bit of a slagging off by some for the way it was presented (CC and JW sitting discussing the season) but I think something like that is a good thing for a review - cos thats exactly what they were doing - giving their opinions on a team/driver then showing some races then moving onto a different point.

Basically BTCC highlights from 1990 to 2002. Most of it is the same as the WHSmiths video, the story of the BTCC.

I thought the Cox/Watson discussions were great. The only bad thing abbout it was that you could guess what happpened later on in the video through their conversations. Still good. The suits and the restaurant gave the BTCC an aura of class and sophistication .

I was typing when you submitted that post....
so is it rubbish, poorly presented with glaring mistakes like the Story of the BTCC?

Yes, it is that but with 2001 and 2002 on it. I wouldn't bother getting it if you have the other video.
But on the plus side, it does still have murray commentating on it. It also doesn't attempt to explain why the 2002 rounds have their own titles sequence (the itv one).

I loved the way they did it!
It is a shame the 2002 didn;t have anything like this, it was poorly stitched together which is a dman shame!

Just sticking the races over with an voice-over from Will

Was referring to the statement about guessing what happened from what CC and JW were saying not the 2002 review
But agree about the 2002 review - nothing on it thats not on my ITV recodings (at least theres fewer adverts for DFS tho!)

if they could make the reviews longer then 3 hours then something similar to cc and jw discussing the season would be good but i don't want something like that if it means losing some of the race action.
it must be hard getting about 400 minutes of race footage down to 180 minutes tho.
is there a limit on the btcc reviews saying it can't be more then 3 hours?

Regardless what it is like I collect all I can on VHS or now on DVD.:D

I dont see why not - you rarely see videos over 3hrs in length but I've got an F1 review DVD which quotes a running time of 4hr15m.
DVDs are ridiculously expensive - £20 for the BTCC ones isnt it? So I think they should offer some added value over the video (and more than a list of champions - which you can find on any website or book, and a links page to various manufacture websites - as on 2001 DVD).

I liked the 1996 review with the insights inbetween evry 4 meetings or whatver.
1998 was very classy in the Bebendum Cafe.

96 insights were good - cant remember if they went out on BBC coverage as well though. Definately think something new is needed on the review compared to the TV. And feel it should be, in part, 'experts' giving their views on what has happened. Although I suppose thats what is happening throughout the commentary isnt it?

Atleast the reviews are available.
John
9th Feb 2003, 10:24 AM
Does that mean they arent available where you are? Or were you just referring to the pre 91 reviews?

Got enough VHS video tapes to fill a portakabin. Where could I get hold of DVD seasons reviews. Would be good to heave the
dapes and replace with discs. Can I get old season reviews on DVD from somewhere
AussieV8

John I meant in general about the reviews.
Just like you can get any sport on tape/DVD.
Stig all the Oz motorsport comes on VHS or DVD and most of the o/s stuff comes in either. Depends how current the race is.
John

Dont think there are any DVDs before 2001 season - but thats not to say they wont release them in the future.

The 2000 review is out on DVD too.
John
10th Feb 2003, 10:02 PM
Oooh is it? Cool - any different to the video version?
touring fan
11th Feb 2003, 09:11 PM
I don't have the video version but I think the DVD extras are little profiles on the touring class drivers and some useful websites to visit (guess most of them are pretty out of date by now)

The difference is the picture quality as well as some extra bits. Its great that you don't have to f/fwd to where you need to go, just screen search.
