Looking at the new 911 launched in FEB 2012.
Is it likely, even though we had a new car this year, that it could become the Carrera Cup Car.
Could the current car be updated, like the Ginetta G50 can be updated to G55 spec or will nothing happen.
Bear in mind the current car has been used in the Porsche Supercup since 2010.

Despite looking very similar, the new 911 road car is an all new car so the old car won't be able to be upgraded as the parts are not the same.

I believe they'll be using the same car again.
Hetherington, Plant, Tordoff, Vernon. If these guys return, they will be the title contenders i'm sure. Meadows/Sutton/Hankey/Jelley are all looking to step up to Supercup/Porsche Deutschland.

Media release: 1 November 2011
Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship winner to be unveiled on-line
The identity of the 2012 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship winner will be unveiled on-line at 10am on Friday 4 November 2011. The winner will be announced on the Porsche Origin website, which already carries extensive coverage of the Carrera Cup GB. It will be the first time that such an announcement has been made via the internet and the Origin site can be found at:
http://origin.porsche.com/uk
Created and run by Porsche Cars GB, the 'Carrera Cup GB Scholarship Programme' will provide £80,000 to the selected driver to use as a significant element of their budget for the 2012 Carrera Cup GB season.
The four finalists completed a rigorous evaluation process at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone on Monday (31 October), including driving the latest 450bhp 911GT3 Cup car on the Silverstone National circuit. They also were put through panel interviews, media assessment and a daunting programme of fitness testing and all gave an excellent account of themselves. They will now wait to hear the result of this career-changing initiative on Friday (4 November).
The four finalists are:
Jody Fannin; aged 18 from South Godstone, Surrey
2011 season: Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup
Tom Ingram; aged 18 from High Wycombe, Bucks
2011 season: Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup
Daniel Lloyd; aged 19 from Huddersfield, West Yorks
2011 season: VW Scirocco R-Cup
Ollie Millroy; aged 21 from Esher, Surrey

delighted for Daniel, think he has proved himself with ginetta jnrs, clios and the vw cup, a young talent for the future and great to see Porsche putting so much in to their series to give a driver a chance
renault take note, you are the only manufacturer on the TOCA package that isnt contributing much to bringing on young talent, get the wallet out and run a scholarship for clios and f-renault

Yeah, it's great news for the championship. Just a slight technicality, it's Parr Motorsport he's signed for not Team Parker :) He impressed a lot in his two outings in the Carrera Cup GB last season and could well be a contender for the championship.

Hankey won't return I don't think. Last I heard he was looking to race in the States.
Jelley wasn't intending to race Carrera Cup GB last year but his endurance race programme with Team Parker didn't work out so he opted to race in the series as last resort. I can't see him doing a third year unless he really can't get anything else together.
And Sutton has never done back to back seasons in the Carrera Cup GB. I see him doing one of two things, either moving to the Supercup or sitting the year out as a driver and working with Redline as a driver coach like he did in 2010.
I agree Team Parker look strong, they probably won't bother signing up another Pro driver unless a strong more experienced driver than the three guys already signed up, approaches them. Personally I would love to see Tim Bridgman return but I don't see it happening.

George Richardson has moved to Parr Motorsport leaving Motorbase He will compete in the Pro-Am1 category. Could be a big year for George I think!

What about the Celtic Speed boys? Tommy Dreelan, George Brewster and Rory Butcher. Are they back for 2012?
I see Glynne Geddie is back this year with Redline Racing.

Indeed. GT racing maybe with Caine at the helm? It's disappointing for the Carrera Cup to lose a big team I hope it doesn't have a huge impact on the grid size and I hope they return soon!

Caine to the GT Supercup, think about it, RWD, TOCA package, great money rewards system.
Will Motorbase really be able to British/International GT's whilst running three BTCC Foci.
Not really, hence GT Supercup.

You sound pretty confident with that theory! It's not a bad one in fairness, we'll have to wait and see!
In regards to Celtic Speed, I think they''ll be back, I know Rory Butcher was keen to return and Tommy Dreelan has been involved in the series for a few years now. I spoke to George Brewster at Silverstone and he said he was hoping to be back in 2012 and I hope he does return, he's a nice guy and a decent driver as well, he deserved the Pro-Am2 title after coming so close in 2010.
I know for a fact that Oly Mortimer wants to be in the series but it's budget dependent as with a most guys in motorsport.

Oly Mortimer has now signed for GT Marques for this season.
Motorbase have pulled out of Porsche Carrera Cup for this season and instead using a Porsche 911 GT3R in the British GT Championship. The drivers are Michael Caine and Daniele Perfetti

Meadows managed the fastest overall lap in practice today from Butcher, Tordoff, Gelzinis, Lloyd and Barker. Less than four tenths of a second covered the top nine. Qualifying is going to be mighty close tomorrow. I can't wait! :D

Bernie Ecclestone's sprinkler idea needs to be implemented for PCCGB races it seems. The first Porsche race in years during which I haven't dozed off. An exciting race, congrats to Lloyd for the win.
