The series has introduced cost cutting measures for 2012, but there still only a few teams signed up.
Can it recover from this slump or is it to little to late?
What would you do to improve the series?

suppose renault could start by reducing parts costs in both clios and f-renault they always have been a rip off and in the current climate drivers are choosing to race elsewhere, the profits renault nake from being on TOCA are unreal, they say not coming to KH is cost cutting but that is small fry, the introduction of the new car didnt help at all either

Just get it off the BTCC package and I'll be happy

At least the Carrera Cup has a strong grid though, and it is a tin-top series so has a place on the package. But surely FR would be better off supporting F3/GT

There is just too much competition nowadays - even with the introduction of the Junior Class, it'll struggle. It may pick up if it went over to the F3/GT package though

What would I do? Rework the aero package so they can overtake for more than the first two corners once the lights go out! That said, the near total lack of overtaking and general entertainment makes it a perfect training ground for aspiring F1 drivers!

Last year the racing wasn't good in this series at all probably due to the lack of cars and this year doesn't look much better. I wish they would try a different series like the Volkswagon Racing Cup which has grown massively in the last couple of years and is touring car style racing. This would also be a good feeder series as a number of BTCC drivers have raced in this championship recently. Surely with live ITV4 coverage the championship would get even bigger. The Legends championship also has great racing and would be much better to watch than Formula Renault

I am sorry but that is just not true. It is a marketing tool for them but is no more effective than there TV adverts and other marketing campaigns.

I've always assumed they didn't come to Knockhill because they found it technically too difficult. :p

thats all the support races aside from Clios. Ginettas are sportscars, they'd be better on F3/GT package, many long term Ginetta cup drivers are going into GT4. personally I've been dissapointed with all the support races for a few years now, I used to enjoy them. F-renault never did have best racing, but go back to the 1st half of the noughties, and where are the F-renault front runners from that era now? We've been graced by seeing early races by Raikkonen, Hamilton, Davidson (I think), and Conway. Porsches also fail to deliver on the track, but they do get the grids. Clios were entertaining, back when the cars were cheap to buy, run and repair. the newer more expensive ones mean much smaller grids and drivers think about reapir bill before overtaking. I'd like to see a support series using the old National Saloon/ BTCC class B rules. 2L cars (although a switch to 1.6 may open it up for more variety of cars), no alterations from how it left showroom except safety features. The list of current BTCC stars who came up from class B (it only ran for 3 years) is a long one, even longer when you include those who've come and gone (O'Niell, Turkington, Collard, Howell, Hines, Jackson, Boardman, Pyper, Eaves, Sheddon (only a few races), Kaye, Morrison, and Neate.
Also a guest spot for different series at each round would be good. HGTCC at Snetterton used to be good, other series like Khumo BMWs, Stock Hatch and MX5s would be good.
