This is the title of a TV profile of Alex Zanardi being aired at 2030 on BBC4 on Tuesday March 16th. Whilst only 30 minutes long, I expect it to be worth a watch.

Excellent. The man is such an inspiration that it's about time the mainstream media picked up on the story. I'll be looking forward to this.

I hope it's not one of those tabloid style things though.

hope it won't be as graphic as the article in last weeks 'zoo' magazine! i felt very ill at one of the pics of his accident.

they had a photo in the first edition of 'Nuts', the first time I've seen a photo of the accident. not very nice.

Now I think about it, there was a very good interview with Alex on radio 4 last year. Maybe they took cameras with them and this will be a similar thing?

That photo in "nuts" (and Zoo as well apparently!) was very very graphic. I doubt the programme will be done in tabloid style - it's BBC4! Pity I don't have digital :(

good porgramme...makes you worry a lot less about the possibility of having those kind of injuries.

bit of footage of the accident, but nothing too bad thankfully.

always emotional listening to him talk about stuff isn't it?

Programme was well worth watching. The man himself is an inspiration. BBC4 have a habit of repeating their programmes a few weeks later on one of their terrestrial channels. Hope they do so this time for anyone who missed it tonight.

I didn't like the first bit, all those replays and photos. I had to keep looking away. My favourite quote from the programme was when he was talking about the video footage of just after the accident (you can see him moving his arm, trying to lift his visor) and he said "I must have looked down and though Oooooh, this is gonna be hard to fix."

Exellent program!!!!!!!
The way he took every thing as a minor set back and can even make jokes out of it!
I liked the bit when he got his new legs, the one was painted in denim style, and he called them his pair of jeans!!!!

A true inspiration to anyone who has a major setback in life and a truly moving story.

Very good programme. The accident footage still sends me cold, but courage of Alex, and the way he has just accepted the way his life has turned out is truly humbling.
Big thanks to The Stig for posting this thread as I'd have missed the programme otherwise.

Stuart, it's only a pleasure.
Delighted that like minded friends, colleagues and contributors can enjoy things like this they might have otherwise missed.

I'm happy to enjoy all my motorsport for the spectacle and don't need a particular favourite. Alex Zanardi makes things different.
I strongly suspect everything he attempts will be done wholeheartedly. Expect him to be inspirational long after his driving gloves are hung up.

Did you catch the comment on his completion of the thirteen laps he missed on the day of the accident ? He went fast enough to have qualified sixth. Astounding !!

Like most people, I expected him to do thirteen, emotionally charged, careful laps just to finish the job.
Having watched the programme, I can now understand why Alex did what he did - he wanted to finish the "Race". To just "drive the miles" clearly isn't in his nature. The fact that he went quick enough for sixth is beyond belief, and just proves how strength of mind can overcome more or less anything.

Apparently he was going to drive the car as an extra pace car to lead the field around but that idea was scrapped because the officials knew he wouldn't come in before the green. :D
