Any news on the driver who rolled at Druids?

Don't know but was spectating that race at Clearways and the activity at the medical centre didn't look too frantic. Hope that's a good sign - they certainly didn't feel the need to helicopter the driver out of the circuit.

We were by the bridge at druids, and watched the car roll, about 4 times, before ending up nearly upside down.
certainly shows that single seaters are a lot more dangerous in that sort of crash than saloons. I recon a toca/porsche/seat/clio in the same crash and the driver would have walked away.
await official news.

I have heard (only from other forums, mind), that he was initially unconcious, hence the trouble getting him out of the car, but re-gained conciousness once they extracted him, and he is currently in the local hospital for observation, nothing more...
Certainly was a VERY worrying period watching it on the TV....I even walked out of the room and did other things during the red flag, but then now I think I was allowing memories of "THE" anniversary to perhaps interfere with my logic process in that respect..
Anyway, the good news is, he's relativley alright...:)

yeah, he was unconcious when they extricated him...but as said above, the medics appeared to be doin precautionary stuff as opposed to tryin to sort out any serious injuries.
i've since heard that he just had bad concussion.

That's good to hear! I watched it on TV and it was very worrying. I checked the BMW link from the BTCC site and was disappointed to see they reported on the race winners etc. but no news on what looked like a pretty serious crash.

This was the official information on what happened, from a Formula BMW press release:
The Safety Car was brought out due to an accident involving the 19-year-old Portuguese driver, Duarte Felix da Costa (Carlin Motorsport ñ Team Portugal). At Druids his car rolled following an incident with Christian Bakkerud (Carlin Motorsport) and ended up against the barrier. The race continued but was then red flagged at the end of lap eight to help the rescue crews at the scene of the accident. Duarte was unconscious in the car for several minutes, but regained consciousness before he was extracted using the Formula BMW Rescue Seat. He was taken to the circuitÃ*s Medical Cente where his condition was reported as comfortable and has now been transferred to Maidstone General Hospital for further observation.
That was released on Sunday night.

I believe he is recovered and will be at SS.
If I remember right, he was interviewed and expressed dissapointment and not scoring points.
As someone commented, I like his attitude.
