M.Schuey is unhappy, cos Traction control and other gizmos are being outlawed soon.
If he's so good then he's got nothing to worry about!
Maybe he's scared of people realising he's not so special afterall!

Would have thought he would have welcomed it as it means less experienced drivers would have a hard time getting to grips with the F1 car (as it should be!)
Maybe he's worried that he's getting on a bit and his reactions arent as good as they used to be!! ;)

I think banning radio communication could be dangerours, the team should be able to contact the driver if they really need to.

Strange thought that would have been a safety issue.

I think race control will still be able to communicate with the drivers over the radio.

In what way dangerous, be more specific.

Well I assume it means that you cant tell the driver there's oil on the track at turn 4 or that there is a car off on the side of the track somewhere etc. The yellow flags are really hard to spot from the cockpit of an F1 car at speed (apparantly).
Also there might be a problem with the car that the telemetary picks up and they may want to pass that onto the driver - eg dont use high revs cos your engine's about to blow up?

No i think engines blowing up should be left to chance.
What i mean is if say a car crashes and is stuck in the road in a blind area the team can quickly warn him before he gets there.

which is more or less what I said! ;)
By the engine think I thought it could be a saftey issue - eg for the guy behind? But agree to be honest about leaving it to chance

As I've already said, I think the idea is that the cars will still carry radios, just they will be in contact withr acecontrol not their team, that way the drivers can still be informed of things like incidents on the track or safety cars comming out etc and they can be told if it looks like something is wrong with their car. The drivers can also inform race control of things they might not be able to see (oil on the track etc) BUT they won't be able to talk tactics with their team.

So we'd best keep an eye out for signalling instead eh?? Jean Todt standing on the pit wall patting his head with his left informs Reubens to pull over and let Schumacher past?! Whereas patting his head with his right hand informs Schmacher to slow and allow Reubens to catch up so they can mess about on the last lap and cross the line together!! Just a thought!

Thats not all he will do. There will be others to watch for just wait and see at the Oz F1

I think Michael's probably unhappy about losing launch control. He can get pole and, now all the teams do 2-by-2 formation starts, he can keep the lead into the first corner.
One of his weaknesses before launch control was starts, he's not brilliant at them. He's probably worried that he's now more likely to drop back and have to "do a Rossi" (ie overtake, not the easiest thing in F1) to win.

MS will have trouble stomaching the thought of another driver gettin past on hez merrits.
A bit of pressure could result in some mistakes.:D

We can only hope! ;)
But this year I have faith in Barrichello beating him a fair few times.

Have to agree.....:D
Or Mark to get a few more points than last year.
As long as he can earn them and not inherit than due to crashes.

If the Jag is any good he will, but last year he did well scoring points. He kept it on the road and stayed out of trouble.

A quote from MW in our latest Auto Action. (12/2/03)
" Formula 1 cars are the most expensive vacuum cleaners in the world "
Mark Webber on how F1 cars 'clean' tracks during practiceand qualifying ahead of races. :)

I cannot understand Michael's disapproval of losing traction control. I would have assumed a driver would appreciate having more control of the car. I doubt that is Michael's true feelings, there are likely to be some internal politics behind such a statement.

Quite true - though if you want to see real racing that's got NO fancy driver aids, you wouldn't go far wrong in watching ASCAR.
These cars have nothing in terms of fancy stuff beyond a radio (to talk to the spotter) and power steering (because of the suspension offset). There's even no onboard computer to log lap times... I wonder what Michael Schumacher would make of that?
In any case, it doesn't seem to have affected the drivers in any way in ASCAR because everyone is in the same boat - those coming from circuit backgrounds found it a bit odd at first, but got used to it. In fact, the top 3 drivers in 2002 were all circuit racers i.e. Nic Minassian, Kelvin Burt and Jason Plato.
I've seen what these guys did all of last season and as a result, I believe that F1 drivers are a bunch of big girl's blouses!!! You wouldn't see F1 drivers three abreast at 170 mph, would you?
F1 drivers have become too reliant on driver aids and as a result I think they're scared of being unmasked as barely average by the new back-to-basics technical regs. I'd love to see Michael Schumacher in an ASCAR just to see how he measures up to the good 'ol boys! :)

MS might just have to drive the car this year instead of the car driving him.
