Rumours are that Collard Racing has taken delivery of one Vauxhall Astra... (according to another forum anyway).

Very interesting! I'm assuming this is a Touring spec Astra? If so any ideas which one? Read somewhere that one of the Barwell cars has been bought by Tommy Rustadt to race in Sweden.

Very good news if this is true. Its a shame Rob's Clio was not very successful last year and it would be another car on the grid.

All we need now is Tom Boardman to get a Touring drive and there'll be tonnes of action out there!! ;)

If the rumours are true, then it's Slight's ex-Astra. One BTC-spec Astra has been carted off to Sweden, not sure which one though, I'll see if I can find out.

I think it was Chiltons that went to Sweden.

Obviously Slights has been fixed then!! Or will Rob race with all the sticky tape still holding the back of the car in place!! ;) :p

Let's hope Rob can show us his full potensial.

I'm thrilled if it is true, Rob lives just down the road from me, and we always get touring car reports in our local paper as a result! But its great that a good, competitive driver has got a touring car - independants champion this year?

Should be a good fight for Indy title with Kaye if his touring drive comes off too.

Is it going to be similar livery to the Clio do we think? Or is there a nice new sponsor to dominate the car?

If its the same it should look pretty cool in black (although was never convinced about the yellow bumpers!!) ;)

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought James Kaye was getting a works Civic type - R and having it run by Synchro, in a simialr way to Egg Sport?

Not sure to be honest.

If that was the case would it not be able to score Indy points? The Egg cars were run by 888 who ran the works cars, whereas in this scenario Synchro would run the car and not Arena who are the works team. But then I guess Tarquini's Honda in 2000 was run by JAS and not WSR but was still a works car.

i think kaye's civic type r would be a indie cup entry.

if the rob collard rumour is true i would love to see the astra in black and a bit of yellow, same as his clio.

I never understood the black and yellow. If I were him I'd have it in white and blue with red decals - the same colour as his trucks.

Good to see this - it's one announcement I wasn't expecting and I'm delighted!

Apparently that Astra thats gone to sweden is ex Triple Eight and Collard might have BOTH Barwell cars. :) Good luck to him.

Dont suppose its as simple as thats the colour the car came in (like Boardmans pink Pug?) but you'll know better than me the answer to that one Craig

hmmm... that could be the reason but I'm sure it'd not be a major job to get one of his fitters to respray a car the size of a Clio... :)

Thats what I thought about the Peugeot but apparantly all the spare bits were that colour too.

Although the number of times those two banged into each other I expect the cars were completely different by the end of 2001 than they were at the start!! ;)

Looks that way so far - but there are ALOT of teams who havent confirmed or havent confirmed drivers yet so never say never.
