sorry if this has been brought up before but why has none of the private teams not done anything with the Focus in recent years, it has a great chassis and the duratech lump is very potent I know FMC are not interested with the BTCC as they would rather waste money on the jag F1 team. It was teams like ford that got me interested in touring cars years ago with guys like Andy Rouse in the hellfire Sierra RS500

Think I read somewhere that Ford are showing an interest in Jonathon Palmer's rival Touring Car series (although I'm not convinced that 2 rival series would be a good idea).

Certainly one of the mock up pictures for this new series is of a Mondeo but I don't know any more about it than that.

The Focus was used in 2001 in the production class by GR Motorsport (4 cars) but never re-appeared in 2002 which was a shame cos they were good (GR actually won the teams championship - although this may be due to the fact they had 4 cars).

It would be nice to see some of these manufacturers back (Renault being another) but I guess for the minute their focus (sorry didn't mean that as a pun) is elsewhere including F1 and WRC.

Think you'll find the Jaguar F1 team is financed by Jaguar now not Ford, and they don't want to use the Focus as they use it in WRC.
I'd love to see Fords back in BTCC too, 2000 was too long ago, shame the Mondeo is oversized now, Fords are not certain whether they will continue in WRC, so who knows, the new Focus may appear in the BTCC within a few years.
It would be nice to see a few more manufacturers reappearing.

my friend Nick Leason (no - not that one!!) has been working to get the budget together to run a focus. I still have my fingers crossed for him.

Jaguar and the rest of PAG may be owned by Ford, but I think you'll find Ford dropped their financial input a couple of seasons ago, leaving Jaguar to finance it themselves.
