It seems it is changing for next year.
The cars are being sold to teams to be raced for a 6 figure prize and test drive for the next 2 years at least.
Not quite the same prize as a drive so I wonder how many will buy them?

The championship has lost the one unique draw about it (the works drive) and although the team thing is a good idea, I wonder how many front runners will come back to it now?

I think with the sucsess of Rob huff this year they could not take the the chance of offering every winner a works drive in the BTCC What would happen if Huff and plato where both 1 and 2 in the championship they could not replace them and it would be unfair to anyway it is a shame that the one door these guys had in touring cars proper has now been closed.
Do you think that rather than buy the cupras and run them in the championship it would not be just as exspensive to set up an idependents BTCC team??

Looks like they are encouraging new teams rather than new drivers - a six figure prize fund sounds enough to run a car in the BTCC for a season.

100,000 isn't you need 250,000 at least for a decent assault.

except that that 6 figure sum is spread across the whole year, presumedly for the top 3 or so finishers each race. so theres no way one team could collect all of it.

I think the most interesting parts of the press release are those that say the championship will increase from 12 to at least 18 rounds. It goes on to say that the championship will be part of the support package for all mainland UK rounds.

32K + vat per car - that's twice what a Clio cost in their first year. Not exactly cheap so hopefully the caliber of drivers will be high.

rememeber that includes a years registration.
the registration would normally be about £10k, so the cars effectlvely cost £20kish. thats only a couple of grand more than a sorted clio, but the seats are newer.

would get rid of F BMW and run both clio races on the Sunday the guys deserve to be in front of the crowds. For the spare slot what about a classic touring championship, Capri's, Dolly Sprints, Rover's and possibly the awesome Sierra RS500 all cars suitably ballasted to make it resonably even

Hi folks.
On Sunday at Donington we were kindly invited to have a chat with Scott Dennis, SEAT Sport UK Motorsport Manager.
We've now published it, so feel free to have read.
But because you have cack rules, you'll just have to goto my webby & look - as I can't link direct
Talks about the 2005 SCC Championship & what their aims are with it
Cheers

The Clio races weren't "bumped" to Saturdays - at many of the circuits this year they could comfortably have been fitted in on Sunday.
They were moved to Saturdays because the teams didn't want to do two races in a day.

I guess it makes sense in the heavy damage fixing world of the Clios....
But if their sponsors were asked, I wonder what they'd say....
