I really don't understand Jaguar's motorsport motives. It's not hard to understand why they have entered F1 in the first place, glitz, glamour, celebs and a guaranteed reputation. Sadly, though..... their cack. Even Ford are worried that Jags impeccable reputation is spinning down the pan because the Jag is useless. They aren't succesful they are an icon, so why are they spending tens of millions of pounds on 20th where they could fighting for wins in....
the BTCC! They have a 2-litre FWD car, the prices are low, good drivers will fancy driving for Jag and they should know that getting their road cars in proper competition is the only good way to sell their products rather than something where the only relationship it has with the car they want to sell is the badge.

Nice idea, but i think they'd be a bit like Lexus when it comes to the BTCC. They don't want to see themselves fighting more 'common' makes like Vauxhall, Proton and Honda, when they could stay in F1 and be against BMW, Mercedes and Ferrari. Bad for the image or something like that.
Didn't know they had a FWD car.

As long as Merc, BMW and to a lesser extent Ferarri are in F1 then Jag will want to compete and beat their main market place rivals.
I would like to see them compete in touring cars as well. The problem nowadays is that a lot of brands are owned by the same company - ie Jag by Ford so there is not a lot of point in entering all brands into the same championships - eg if Ford Volvo and Jaguar entered the BTCC (I wish!!) they'd be competing against themselves in reality. The Ford Motor Company seem to prefer Rallying to promote Ford, F1 for Jag and until recently Touring cars for Volvo.
Although it can be seen in WRC with Pug and Citroen who are ultimately part of the same parent company.

Love to see Jaguar come Touring. Might do better for the marque than getting roundly thrashed or parking it out in the country every fortnight in full view of the whole world, for twenty times the budget. Expect the "common" manufacturers have been delighted by their exposure in a competitive series. The excellence of the "common" badges makes BTCC as good as it is.

If you could get 2 manufacturers, say Jag and Lexus to enter, I'm sure others would follow. You just need a brave manufacturer to take the plunge.
