What one thing are you most happy about in this years BTCC?

For me, it would have to be the return of the Number 1 (and especially on an Astra!) It hasn't felt right for the last few years with no Number 1 driver, so this year should put that right!

Whats your one? :D

... and No 'the BTCC starting again' answers, has to be something relevant about this years chamoionship!

For me?

Definately the quality of the drivers!

James Thompson,
Yvan Muller,
Matt Neal,
David Leslie,
anthony Reid,
Alan Morrison,
Paul O'Neill,
Warren Hughes,
Colin Turkington,
Gavin Pyper,
Gareth Howell,
Tom Chilton,
James Kaye (possible)
Robert Collard,
Phil Bennett,

And we may still have Buxton, Eaves, another MG and vauxhall driver, Slight and Harvey getting drives!

O and of course the reigning champion competeing!

I'm still waiting for the announcment that's going to make me happy this season. Hopefully I won't have to wait too much longer.

Thats very mysterious Claire!?! Any more details?!

The number one is a really good thing thats been missing for too long!

I am happy about the fact that I dont reckon the championship is a foregone conclusion this year. In 2001 and 02 Vauxhall were clearly going to win but this year theres a real chance that one of Honda or MG could be right up there - and I'm looking forward to Proton's first win! :)

Its gonna be a good one!!

Motor racing pundits probably say this about most motorsport each pre-season, but it might be one of the best for ages. Loads of high quality drivers, the cars themselves seem really evenly matched. The reigning champion won't relinquish his crown without a fight, with the four or five people who have a live chance of winning it. Rockingham will be good and we've got Champ Cars at one of the Brands rounds. Can't wait and not just because I've missed it since October.

I hope Dan's in as well Claire - can't see him not having a drive somewhere though :)

Great to have the reigning champ back as well.

Only if you live somewhere with cable, or have satellite though! Not for the rest of us :( :(

What we really need is live races on ITV. Maybe next year!

John

I agree with you Mark - Last season I can remember with the reigning champ staying in was '99 with Rydell having won the year before. He came third that year though, behind those dreaded Nissans !! I would like to see back to back championship titles for Thommo but Yvan is long overdue a champ win - anyone agree ??:p

yep, thats why i'm having sky installed next week.

i'm delignted to have the reigning champion back to defend his title.
as others have said, the quality of drivers.
the motorstv deal to show live races.
the btcc linking up with cart at brands hatch.
also i think the new regulations are a really positive move as well.

I'm mostly happy about Matt Neal getting a Honda drive. I can't wait to see how aggresive the front of the field will be now. Oh and I'm happy that O'Neill got a Vauxhall works drive this year.

Not really overjoyed about anything for the 2003 season. :(

Seems the same as 2002 to me.
Maybe I need catching up on news.

I would agree with you there too! I think it would be good for Yvan to have some luck this year, but aslong as Vauxhall are on top, I don't mind! ;)

See, everyone's got something their positive about, so no worrys about lack of tourers etc!:D

It has to be Matt Neal at Honda and the possiblity of most teams running 3 cars this year i.e Honda, Vauxhall, MG. That will boost the grid and make the races action packed.

just as long as the grid includes tom boardman and paul o'neill then i wiil be pleased.

Then your in for a good season. Boardman with VLR (B&Q) by the looks of it and O'Neill with Vauxhall.

I'm most happy with the steps Westie has taken to raise the profile of the championship.

I am particularly excited about the races being live on Motors TV. There will now be no excuse for not seeing the action as it unfolds!

For me it's got to be the CART weekend. I'm really looking forward to it, Champ Cars has been my meeting of the year for the past 2 seasons, and now it's with Touring Cars it could be great.

I'm also happy about the live TV coverage in that it raises the profile of the championship, but am not happy that I have to actually use it because the first round clashes with FRenault at Snetterton. I really wanted to go to Ireland!

I'm not looking forward to anything inparticular, just the season in general. :D

Not fussed who wins the championship, lots of good drivers who deserve a shot. Good the reigning champ gets a go to defend his title. Yvan Muller is one of the best in the field who hasn't become champion and was a very good loser the previous two years. The serious could benefit from Vauxhall not dominating.
Am expecting a memorable season with mostly thrilling meetings.

MG hopefully having a car to take a real challenge to the vauxhalls this year, and the hondas doin well too. No Andy Priaulx though is a shame!

The Stig

MG and Honda both got better and better last year. Matt Neal will be a more than adequate replacement for Andy Priaulx, who given a year or two more would probably have ended up just as popular with people like us as Thommo, Plato and Neal. Would be good to see him back, if only next year.
