Just heard that Farique Hairuman is off to race in the Japan GT championship next year, Well bye mate, may the carnage in the BTCC come to an end. It was one steep learning curve for you.

Apparently David Wong, signed him for "His instant turn of speed and uncanny car control". Oh well, never mind

SWS for VX seat next year

Ummmm, where did Mr Wong get that idea from, his turn of speed disappearing into a gravel trap and his uncanny car control getting there in the 1st place?

In a way I feel sorry for freaky he just didnt have the skill and for a manufacturer to be struggling along with the vartas and John George shouldnt be happening. Proton have had no luck in the uk with a dealer network that cannot serve then with the BTCC failing so badly this year, perhaps they should have stuck with guys like david Leslie or at least took on a resonably experienced guy like Paul Rivett from the clios buy they wanted someone from Malaysia to drive

Interesting that the very first thing I saw when I arrived at Donington on the Saturday last year was this guy going off into a gravel trap!! I felt sorry for him, he seemed out of his depth.

And you got to remember that his teammate was the south african equivalent of thommo or muller, he would probably have not been crtiscised so much if he had a teammate who was more equal with his ability.

Possibly, but a less competitive team mate would still not have covered up the absurd number of offs he had last year.

I don't feel sorry for him at all, anyway. The BTCC should showcase the best talent available and be about excellence and I think it was bad for the series to have people like him competing. He was completely unproven in the junior categories, but earned a works drive in a major touring car championship all because of his nationality. Meanwhile, talented drivers like Gareth Howell, David Leslie and Phil Bennett were forced to spend a year on the sidelines.

Some of freaky's driving could only have been replicated in a circus but the way he got the drive in the first place was unfair.

Freaky in a pre season interview

"They wanted a Malaysian driver to drive the car and they said that I could er do it"
