Clio Man

Sad news just read that Gerry Marshall, one of our greatest saloon car racers has died, happened at Silverstone whilst testing, he pulled over not feeling well and sadly passed away shortly after.
Was lucky enough to see him race last year and he still knew how to throw a car around.
A true legend.
RIP
Richard.

Thanks for this Clio Man.
A great man and superb driver. Saw him at Goodwood and as you said he could still drive!

Simply one of the greatest ever tin-top and sportscar drivers the world has ever seen. His car control was something any racing driver would want to aspire to, but few will ever match.
Sad as this news is, it is so fitting that Gerry's last hours were spent doing what he loved so much.

Reminds me of how Denny Hulme went. Like some of you only seen some of his great Goodwood performances of late and it's a shame that we shall see this no more. 600+ race wins, shall raise a glass to him later.

Very Sad.
I've got lots of video footage of Gerry during his time with Vauxhall in the 70s, racing both Big and Baby Berthas (Ventora & Firenza, for those not in the know), and competing in the Tour Of Britain in the early part of the decade, alongside Roger Clark in a pair of Mk1 Escorts.
He was always a very popular and charismatic man. He will be much missed.
