I think that it is rediculous that Codemasters still call the game Toca but repeatidly leave the BTCC off the game.
Even the British GT championship is on the game yet no BTCC.

How many times are we going to talk about this Toca as absolutely nothing to do with the BTCC

In my opinion Jamie is not being harsh, we have been here before on numerous occassions! If William hasn't seen the previous threads that is fine.

DTM race driver is the german version! But still Codemasters should put BTCC on Toca Race Driver after all it is called TOCA, which is BTCC!

It's also DTM here in Holland and in Belgium. The Toca name is just marketing and reffering to the old Toca and Toca 2 games but only in the UK I believe.
Toca 2 with the BTCC 1998 season cars is one of the best racing games of the past years. I don't understand why Codemasters never took that games engine to use as the base for todays TOCA/DTM racedriver.

toca2 still a legend, i dont understand why people think gran turismo is 10 times better. on toca, i still go on hard mode in a ford or plug, good challange.

Because lots just look at graphics, crashes etc. Toca was good at those things in those days, but the game was next to Grand Prix series the most realistic driving you could have imo. For years nothing came even close to TOCA. Intrest for arcade just seems bigger. I was really surprised with GTR though.
Funny thing I find that mostly young guys are fond of games like Gran turismo, NFS etc while older people with real driving experience, not just racing but also normal driving, go for games like TOCA2 and GTR.

What is GTR like?
I've heard alot of promising things about it, the only negative (or positive depending on your view) is how hard it is!
PS: did anybody else find that the Vectra in TOCA2 had horendous oversteer, or just me?

You can go from really easy arcade to challenging arcade. Or you can do simulation which gets really hard. But I don't have a steeringwheel yet. Which means I can only give full throttle or no throttle with my keyboard. Then it is impossible to drive in simulation. So until then I play in one of the hardest arcade modes.
But you can try it yourself. A demo is available on their website. With the Spa track. :) GTR Website (http://www.10tacle.com/gtr-game/)
I always took the S40, we had one for real so I had to quit playing 10 minutes before I got into the real one to make sure I was back in the real world. ;)

Must admit that I have a good deal of "REAL" driving experience and find the handling in the toca games to be god awful!
Cant say i have ever playe NFS or any of its kind but Gran Turismo 3 and 4, although the same are truly subliminal gaming experiences! I know of little games where a tiny tweak to the cars set-up can make a very noticable difference! especially during the long races as the tyres wear and fuel goes down!
found in toca2, that when i adjusted the set-up, it made no/minimal difference or had the opposite effect!!!
And on the subject of brands being "easy", your quite right. Cant remember any driver in the BTCC managing to go from the exit of clearways to druids without lifting the throttle one iota! Can be done easily in the game though so thats a bit of realism for you!
Cant comment for GTR but have heard its very very good!

toca 2, still the best touring car game out there, despite it nearly being 8 years since it was made. i think it is better on the pc, especially when i found a patch on the internet so i could race seasons 95 to 99 on there aswell, quality.

although toca 2 is gud i think toca race driver is better its got better graphics and a better plot as u play a up and coming driver!it is more realistic as u get offered jobs by racing teams and the points scored determins what u do! :p :) :p
