My ten best BTCC drivers of all time? Well, donĂ*t say I didnĂ*t warn you, but here they are in no particular order:
Kelvin Burt
Andy Rouse
Kieth Odor
Gerry Marshall
Win Percy
Matt Neal
Will Hoy
Tom Walkinshaw
Steve Soper
John Cleland
It is quite an eclectic selection, but then IĂ*ve been watching touring cars since wellĂ– for a long time, I guess. OK, Gerry Marshall is a little bit before my time and Tom Walkinshaw hung up his helmet just a year or so before I got into touring cars, but they were the best exponents in the art of racing a touring car in their day ñ Gerry a multiple British champion and Tom a European champion. All the others, I have seen race in the BTCC at some point or other.

Not necessarily my favourites, or the best BTCC drivers ever, but 11 drivers who I think given equal cars would have made a fantastic race.
In no particular order:
Cleland
Hoy
Neal
Muller
Thompson
Plato
Menu
Reid
Rydell
Tarquini
Biela

Just had a look at what you guys have said up to here and the results so far are:
Cleland 10
Thompson 9
Menu 9
Rydell 8
Tarquini 8
Reid 7
Hoy 5
Rouse 5
Plato 5
Radisich 5
Neal 5
Biela 4
Muller 4
Burt 3
Soper 3
Winkelhock 3
Harvey 3
Aiello 2
Radermecker 2
Out of these drivers (ie the ones with 2 or more votes)
5 competed in 2002 (6 if you include Kelvin Burt)
9 competed in 2000 (10 if you include Will Hoy)
11 competed in 1998
Some have retired but the likes of Tarquini, Rydell and Menu represent those who left with ST regs. Presumably however if this question was to be asked in a few years time there would be new names representing the new drivers who have been given a chance to drive because of the departure of the foreign supertars (eg O'Neill, Eaves, Pyper etc).

The more I think about it, the more I come up with more drivers I'd like to include. There's been so many good BTCC drivers.

Something about Andy Rouse that always amazes me is that he won his first BTCC championship in 1975. He was still driving in 1994 and he was still pretty competitive in 94, 93 and 92 so its not as if he had waited too long before retiring.
Thats nearly 20 years after he won his first championship, to put that in perspective its like James Thompson or Plato driving in the 2020 BTCC - that just seems amazing to me! :)

AAH! scary. If i get into the BTCC when im older then i could be racing my heroes of today! I might not race but i want to set up my own team. I forget to put Will Hoy in mine. He was a great driver.
