the btc-touring rules were meant to good for independant teams because they could run cars from previous seasons and still be competitive, but theres only 2 cornfirmed indie teams for next year, and all these cars are going to waste:
-2 honda civic's
-4 MG ZS'S
-4 or maybe 6 vauxhall astra's
thats 10 or 12 cars and all of them would be competitive with good drivers at the wheel.

Well its not to do with the rules. The current finacial strain surrounding all motorsport at the moment puts teams at a loss before they even go racing. Unfortunatly it can't be done if you don't have a big sponsor, your loaded, or you have works backing (hence why VLR may be going to BTC-P because peugeot wouldn't back them). The Government (yes I know I blame them for everything), see some stupid stone pushing brushing, as a sport and give them lots of funding, but wheres the funding for motorsport projects?
And whilst where on the government? we're going to war and they can even keep the flaming roads clear with a bit of poor weather? 12 hours on the M11! I mean for..........

The Civics were not sold, they were upgraded I belive. The TAK MGs were sold and last years MGs went to TAK (if they are entering).

u also need to add 3 406 coupes to the list, great shame, all these cars going to waste, the 406 coupes were given to VLR free of charge werent they? i really hope in the next 2 months more privateers emerge and buy/get the unused cars.

I still think VLR/Halfords will be in the Touring Class, be it with 406 Coupes or 307s

I can assure you that the two works Vauxhalls were the same for 2001 & 2002!
888 built 6 for 2001, 1-4 of these were used. 5&6 were then sold to Barwell for the 2002 season. 888 kept the 1-4 chassis and updated them to 2002 spec.

My feeling is that VLR will use 307s whatever, if they get works backing it'll be in touring, if not see them in production.

They were having meetings wich Pug earlier in the year (according to Autosport anyway) to try and secure works funding...
They do have the Pug works deal for their British Rally efforts though - a sign?
