Moen with Collard Racing
BTCC 24/02/03

It looks as if the quick Norwegian Roger Moen could be on his way back to the BTCC. Recent information indicates that Roger would drive the Vauxhall Astra that Aaron Slight crashed at Donington last year. Rob Collard has bought the repaired Astra and will with his team, Collard Racing, run the car in this year's BTCC.

is this true?

Moen would be driving the Clio if he did join the team, and quite francly I think that cars gone to the graveyard.
Where'd that story come from Jonathon?

I would have thought he'd race the clio and be a reserve driver for the astra if required.

What do people think of Moen? Good/bad?

Roger's been around a bit in several of the European touring car series - but always as a privateer. I don't recall him having a works drive as such, but he's always done well with the budget and equipment that's been available to him.

Moen is a good solid competitor who thinks carefully about his racing, and though while he'll never set the world alight in terms of sheer ability, I still think that he is underrated as a driver and it is about time he got the recognition and the drive that goes with it.

to quote Collard Racing "Rob back for the new season, in the Touring Class."

With only rummors of the clio returning im not sure what to think.

i doubt that roger will be in the astra and rob in the clio because who in their right mind would buy a better car for someone else to race.

I've looked at 6 motorsport websites (big and small) and can't find any trace of that story

I'd go for Moen in a 307 ;)

Wouldn't it be possible that there's another Astra hanging about somewhere..??

Theres one somewhere - TCs is off to Sweden as far as I know but 888 only need 3 of their 4 (assuming they dont build any more) so there's one 'spare'

If Collard was getting two Astras though I would assume he'd have got the two Barwell cars and Rustad would have had any that 888 had to spare.

Theres no mention of a two car team on RCs site

A post on another forum suggests that Moen will be driving a 307. Whether that's production or touring is unknown. If true, it sounded pretty much in the bag.

Let me just refresh my memory.

James Thompson }
Yvan Muller } both have newly built Astra Coupes for this year

Paul O'Neill - same car as last year? (1 of the 4 at least)
1 extra 888 car - have heard this may have been the one that went to Sweden.

GA Motorsport x 2 - one ex Vauxhall, 1 ex Egg car.

Collard Racing - one ex Barwell car.

1 other ex Barwell Astra...Sweden or still sitting about?

Total of 8 cars there...6 in this years championship, 1 to Sweden and 1 still lurking about...

Oops forgot about GAs Astras! Doh!

I'm fairly certain that the swedish bound Astra is a Barwell car.
