Who, what, where & when (01)

Many eons ago, back when Autosport used to cost the princely sum of 85 pence, they used to run a little competition called ìWho, what, where & whenî and as I have far too much archive material for my own good, I thought it would be fun to revive that here ñ but based on the BTCC of course. ;)

So that everyone has a reasonable chance, I am keeping it to drivers that have competed in the BTCC from 1988 onwards i.e. just prior to the introduction of the 2-litre formula. However, I can guarantee that I will really test your knowledge of the BTCC, the drivers that took part in the series between then and the present day and their careers outside of touring cars.

There will be no prizes for anyone, just the satisfaction of getting the answer right and the kudos gained from matching my twisted lines of thought!

I will need four pieces of information from you:

WHO: driver name
WHAT: the car and the team involved
WHERE: circuit at which the action took place
WHEN: the year the action took place

Defiately 1990 (because thats the only video Im missing!!) Which means I'm not too sure about the who and where - definately a Class B BMW M3, just depends who drove the one with the red flashes on it! Also I reckon its Oulton as well. (If that white thing on the LHS is part of the pits then it must be the first corner).


Great idea for a quiz tho - hopefully its gonna be a regular feature!! :)

Knowing whos set this question its not Kelvin Burt is it????

He did race a BMW in 1990 (Sytner's car - so if Sytner was a 'works' BMW driver that year it could well be????

Other guesses would be Sytner himself or Sugden. But I'm just guessing now!!

Doh! listen I'm watching the WSB at the mo and cannot be bothered to get out the 1990 video!!!

I know there are at least two other possibilities but I won't spoil the fun by saying who they are here and now. Mind you, they are both still racing!!!

Yep - well done!!

I would have gone off the sunstrip rather than the helmet though, which probably explains the difficulties I had with some of the other pics!

Oooooooerrr, I didn't look at the sunstrip! :)

I tend to go by the helmet - particularly as Thommo's is quite different from Phil's. Reason being, I've seen drivers drive their team-mate's car just to check set-ups and stuff, so car stickers aren't everything ;)
