There`s a new team entering the Clio Cup this year called Double Six Racing and they are offering the chance of a drive in the 2007 season by entering the scholarship they are running. Would this be a good start to being a racing driver???

a very good way:D especially when the prize is worth over 40,000 pounds

the only problem with these scholarship things is that they cost a lot of money to enter.

Wiiliam,
I didn`t think it was that bad as there are others that make you pay for at least 3 rounds before you get to the free ones. So to me £550 ( 2x275 ) isn`t as much as I could be charged if I went with other scholarships. Plus, and this is a big factor to me, the prize of being part of the support package for the best motor sport racing in the UK ( BTCC ) is too good a chance to miss. Who knows you may see me winning the BTCC championship in a few years!!!

FYI

Renault Sport UK has confirmed the registration fee for the 2006 ELF Renault Clio Cup will retain the discount of more than £2,000 introduced last season, making it the least expensive support race on the TOCA Tour this year at a cost of £7,566.24 per driver.

Included in the fee is entry into all 10 rounds (20 races) of the Championship, which gets underway on April 8th/9th at Brands Hatch, Kent. The price also covers the cost of 11 official test days, while optional extra testing is available at Mallory Park circuit on Wednesday mornings throughout the season.

The problem with these scholarships is that they are incredibly strict. I entered one a few years ago and was good enough to make it to the final but had a spin. Even though I was competitive enough they had to obey their own rules and exclude me.

Ghaslty isnt it! Just imagine a paddock rulled by Burbery caps and spangly necklaces, brimming with bottle blonde's layered with fake tan!

Not sure the organisers of the Clio cup would like the competitors practicing burnouts in the assembly area, whilst 8 fellow compettitors held the front of the car down to see how much smoke they can get before front tyres burst!

Hell, they would even go so far as to have speed humps on the approach to Church corner to see who can make the most sparks and a recreation of Sainsburys car park for some kind of slalom on the Jack Brabham straight!

Thank god the organisers of this scolarship, and others are slighlty strict. If you make a balls up in the race it could be game over, so why not have a similar discipline in the scolarships! Good idea!

I know, off topic! Sorry!
