Will be tight between Plato and Chilton I reckon, but I tip Chilton to nick it on the 30th race of the season

would have a wee punt on Chilton for the title.

I think Plato will have too much for Chilton, especially with JT alongside for most rounds!;)

If I was on the optimistic side I would say Fiona.
Honestly I think Tom Chilton! Great Driver + Great Team = Brilliant Combination.

i would love Plato to win ( can you you tell? ) but think Giovanardi will just about scrape it

I would like Plato to win the most out of all the drivers but he probably wont because he gets to many disqualifications and Seat will have to play around with the Leon a while before they get the perfect set up. I'll say Fabrizio Giovanardi or Matt Neal will be most favourite this season

I think it's between Plato, Neal and my main tip for the top, Giovanardi. They will all outrace Chilton.
Pinkney won't win it. He'll give up when he's not winning.

I predictably chose Mike Jordan. Although I belive it will be Chilton's year. Mike will defintly be up there all season and I expect wins at Donington from him. I hope and I think Jason Plato does not win the title, he is a liabilty on the track at times over driving and causing accidents.

Man, dont start this again! You could say the same about most, if not all of the drivers out there!

But its one thats repeated over and over and over, and its unfair on Plato. He definatly isn't the only guilty party out there.
yes you can have an opinion, but a fair well informed one.

The only way Chilton can win is if the Astra is the quickest car by miles.
I think it will be tight between Gio and Jas but in 2007 my money is defiently on Plato if he is in the WTCC Seat still.
As for 2006 as i say to tight to call but ooooooooo probably Gio in the VX

Jason Plato has been the best thing in the BTCC since Cleland left.
A real charcter.
what the btcc needs
and above all... really quick on the track

Come on people isnt it abit early to start saying who might be champion this year. Not being funny but the season hasn't even started yet!
We should be having this conversation midway through the season not now.

Where's the fun in that?!? If there is a driver leading the championship by miles at the halfway point, that would be a great topic, wouldn't it? :p

I was not starting anything, just stating that in my opnion Jason tends to cause trouble.
I agree with you wholeheartedly! Whilst there is not doubt over his race-craft and all round ability, he tends to run into people a lot then spend time doing the "darling of the crowds" bit afterwards when some of his moves do not pay off!
HOWEVER, i do think that if the Leon hits the ground running, as it did in the WTCC, and with capable back up from Thompson, Jason has a clear shot at the title this year! He juts need to stop bumping so much!

Rarely if your on about bashing into people! Watch a few season reviews as i have been to see.
But the mod has asked us to change the record, so be it!....

Not before you've said your piece though!
Just remember, in any incident there are two or more people involved. If Plato is quicker than the guy in front, he will want to pass.
Maybe he is lacking a little in the patience department, but would you rather he sat there nice & quietly waiting for a mistake that may never happen?

I would like Plato to win but I think he gets to many disqualifications and treated unfairly a bit by the officials sometimes, so my money would probablly be on Giovanardi because I've heard hes meant to be a great driver.
Williams Ren 99

I think these two drivers will be out of the question of winning the 06 championship:
Mike Jordan
Dave Pinkney
because they are new independents and it will take time for them to bed into the championship

The only way Chilton can win is if the Astra is the quickest car by miles.
I think Chilton proved last year, on a number of occasions, that he doesn't need the fastest car by miles to win. He just needs to drive at the top of his form.
The Civic Type R was not the fastest car on the grid when Matt or Dan were driving them 2 years ago. Which is why TD developed the Integras. Tom took his car out of a barn, dusted it off, and qualified pole. That is his driving, not just the car.
If he impressed Ian Harrison enough to get a paid drive then he must have some talent. (Not just Daddy's cash.) Just hope his driving style is compatable with the Astra unlike poor Colin last year.

The only thing that will help him over Turkington is that the car will be set up for each driver this year wheras before it was Mullers set up on all

I was just writing a post to that effect, before my PC crashed.
I believe Matt will be stronger this season, its just a question reliability for the rest I think. If the SEAT's & Vauxhalls can get the same level of consistency, it will be a very close finish.

If he does win the championship again this year then he will be the first to do the double since Chris Hodgetts in 1986-87 in his Toyota Corolla.
