Glad to have it back, after the long winter break, I think the three of them go so well together there so comical, Like I say the one where they converted the Espace and blew the Carwash up was one of my favourites, couldnt stop laughing at them, LEGENDS

Always good for a laugh is Top Gear - and of course if you want your motoring programmes a bit more serious (generally) you can watch Fifth Gear on Monday evening!
Having said that I didn't know whether to laugh or cry last night when one of the Girls Aloud crew crunched a Ferrari (in the car park!!) - not sure if JP knew either.

Fitfh gears a good programme but I cant compare it to Top Gear its no where near as good, I only watch Fitfh gear when JP does his parts of it and viki BH does her parts (as I think shes fit) Tiff needel and the other guy are a bit boring to watch they dont crack the Laughs like Clarkson, Hamster and May do in TG

Car shows aren't all about comedy! Saying that though, Top gear is excellent!

Top Gear is excellent!
Hammond, Clarkson & May are a brilliant trio, they make the programme so funny.
Every episode is hilarious.
& when they got the BTCC drivers on for the people carrier racing was so good.
And the 'car football'
They are just pure genius on that programme.
I find it a lot better to sit & watch..than that fifth gear or whatever..
and as for The Stig..he's amazing..anyone know who he really is?!
I think I know..

Perry McCarthy (former Formula 1 driver and test driver for the Benetton, Arrows and Williams teams and also tested for BMW F1) was the 1st stig.
It appears that some rarer, privately owned cars may be driven by their owner, masquerading as the Stig. This was the case for the Maserati MC12, privately owned by Frank Mountain, a successful property developer; the car was at the time the only one in the country. Heikki Kovalainen (the Renault F1 test driver) admitted to driving the Renault R24 F1 car around the track in the 2004 series, clothed as the Stig. In a Winter Olympics special episode of Top Gear, the Stig was also shown doing a ski jump using a ski mobile, suggesting that this may have been another person dressed as the Stig doing the extremely dangerous stunt. According to the Swedish tabloid newspaper Aftonbladet, the snowmobile driver performing the ski jump stunt was Dan Lang, a Swedish snowmobile cross driver.[2]
In January 2006, the Daily Express confirmed that the identity of The Stig is former Formula 1 driver Julian Bailey.

I'm not sure that Julian Bailey story in the Express was ever proved, it could have easily been somebody making things up! I did see Julian Bailey at the first BTCC meeting of the year at Brands as his step son is racing in one of the support races, maybe I should have asked him?!

Is it not far more likely the Ben Collins rumours are true?
I remember someone saying on here right near the start it was Ben Collins, THEN he appeared on the following, Catching a Parachutist in a car, Racing the off road scateboarder, 24 Hour 2CV race, Car Football (Where they get well know BTCC drivers, Russ Swift, and hmmm Ben Collins, compared to the others hes a nobody). Surly its him.

It was a good sarcastic ending with stig 1 when he was on the naval ship and was seeing how fast that old jag would get upto on the landing strip and then crashed into the sea, good ending I thought

If you are going to cut and paste from Wikipeda at least remember to take out the footnote references.
Better still why not just post a link to the page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Stig

Who watched last nights, what a giggle when they made there cars into boats and the Hammonds sunk in the resovoir, and at the end where Clarkson turned to fast to finish and turned his car upside down in the water they could'nt stop laughing well funny.
Also loved the new Lotus they were test driving looked so fast on the straight and through the corners, made the Mustang look like a bus when clarkson raced it against the Stig, I know that the Mustang obviously weighs more, as it is American. But it was quick

Yeah i watched Top Gear last nite. It was so so funny i couldn't stop laughing. When James was forced to drive his car with the mast up, then he car to a low bridge and then broke down.
How far did Richard get? about 2 metres lol.
Then he had a bucket with holes in it.
I could go on allday about it lol.
That Lotus was cool. I want one!!!! >>>>>>>>>> I WISH

And that was funny when the hamster could'nt do hill starts in his Damper Van, and when the Hamster broke down at the T Junction and asked Clarkson to wait on the radio and Clarkson just said Goodbye and drove off, well funny

Yeah I love how they always take the micheal out of each other especially Clarkson and Hammond, like when Clarkson keeps winding hammond up about having had his teeth whitened
Great stuff
chilton01
22nd May 2006, 07:13 PM
Oh the teeth whitening thing is so funny!!
& I love how Clarkson always takes the mick out of Hammond's height.
Especilly when they do the cool wall & Clarkson puts a car really high so that Hammond can't reach it!
haha
They are just hilarious..they have me in stitches all the time! :D
Williams Ren 99

Another thing I love is how James May just comes out with random conversations like when they were doing the motoring news on sunday talking about overhead gantries on motorways May started a conversation about Microwave displays and how he dries his pants in there, Strange but at the same time funny

Definately one of the best programmes on TV. As mentioned already, it's funny when they take the mickey out of each other. Last nights show had me in stitches when they were trying to launch their amphibious vehicles. Hamsters one broke going in and immediately started letting in water :D

Who watched last nights show? See the Mercedes with its gear what an amazing car especially how theres now buttons it all works by voice activation, and when Clarkson did the inside of the merc like a sitting room and the Hamster and May went for a lap round the track and because there were no sits they both kept going flying well funny
simel2006

That Merc S class was well cool. But after a few years all the cars will have those gismos, Like all the old S classes.
RH cut his head in that sitting room car. Very funny.
I see thay put a wing on the Koenigsegg CCX it looked well fast, broke the lap record aswell.

I dont think anything else will beat the Koenigsegg CCX around the track personally, Probably Buggatti Veron might stand a chance if they ever get it, because I think I remember Clarkson saying they would'nt let them drive it around the track.

£5 million, Slight Exaggeration mate, The Buggatti costs £810.000, Clarkson says it is in his write up on it for the times!

Top marks again, That made me laugh when they took the micheal out of May for doing that new Shark programme on Sky one, well funny
Yes agree that Prodrive Subaru looks really good.
I think that the Reasonably Priced car Chevrolet Lecctti looks quite good considering its a 1.8 for under £10.000 looks far better than the old Suzuki they used to use

most memorable moment so far apart from the ones mentioned above was when the stig crashed the Koeneggsigg (however they spell it) Clarkson said "it's eaten a tyre!!"
Williams Ren 99
19th Jun 2006, 03:51 PM
That was quite bad because he went off carrying alot of speed.
"Its eaten a tyre" remember LOL

Clarkson falling out of the hovercraft, head first, is my personal fave!:D
Williams Ren 99
19th Jun 2006, 04:04 PM
It was at the begining of this series when they have the Top Gear garden party where they invited guest to do fastest lap in a reasonably priced car and the first man arrives and Clarkson goes to Hammond "Who is he" the way he said it under is breath was so funny and Hammond say under his breath "dont tell me you dont know who he is?" and they did'nt know what to say to him, and they did'nt know him so they called him "The well Spoken Man" LOL
Theres that many funny bits we could be here all week talking about them tbh

Me too - by far the best show on the box - and the ONLY programme that I would make a point of not missing. I even watch the re-runs on the satellite channels - often the only thing worth watching amongst the 200+ channels! Clarkson, May and Hammond are superb - three class acts!

Yes the Mondeos a big improvement to the old box they used to call a Mondeo looks good and sporty and goes like a rocket although I like the Mazda 6 the best looks so sporty and the 256bhp was good but like Clarkson I cant stand Vectras never have never will it looks so cheap and square on the inside still so does the outside to certain extent

I go to the only autmotive engineering university of Canada so I've run into maybe about 5 people that watch the show. I've been watching it for almost 5 years now. I think I may have done a some sort of search back in the Napster era and that's how I found it. In my highschool I knew of maybe a total of 4-5 people who have seen it before. So defintely not too many people know about it but the true car enthusiasts have discovered it along the way. I've always enjoyed British motoring shows, magazines, and of course racing. I mean who else was watching the British Rally Championship back in grade 9 from Canada? The CAR and EVO magazines are expensive over here, about 6 pounds. The cars I read about in these magazines are covered as late as half a year later in American Magazines. Except you guys don't get the latest info on American car, but I can tell you, you are not missing much seeing as my university is right across the river from Detroit. Can't wait to move to the UK but it's going to be expensive.

it will seem so much more expensive when you move over here compared to Canada?

This is in the future and I still have to finish my undergrad. But if I get into Cranfield it's in Bedfordshire and maybe even Kingston which is in London I believe. I'm sure my parents won't be happy at all, but I've already moved once for school.
