dont think so, croft could have been on the 1st weekend of july makes it harder for the teams particularly in the support races if they have major work to do (reshells etc)

its not as if Englands going to be in the final after all:p

I'm glad its had a break in a way as its given me chance to go the other events (DTM, Goodwood FOS, Britcar) without missing the BTCC.

I dont mind the break as Im always on holiday that week from work, so I can always make sure I will be there. But as far as Im aware Croft weekend has always been on that weekend, or atleast for the past few years, so isnt it that other events have been moved?

The long breaks annoying. Why should other sports suffer, just cos there's some Football matches being played in another Country. England aren't gonna win anyway, the sooner they're out, the sooner all the hot air will stop!

Yep I agree the wait is too long! In my experience most people that are big fans of Motor Racing are not particularly fussed about football anyway, besides the biggest gap seems to be with the WRC as the next round isn't until the middle of August!!!!!

Whether England are in the final or not, I would still be interested in the outcome.

I think the break is the only option, with ITV sharing the coverage, there might be a conflict with BTCC. Something the BTCC can do without.

There is a bigger amount of people that like Football then Motorsport so thats why the motorsport suffers because when the BTCC is normally on the World cup matches are on so there not going to drop the world cup matches espeically England which attracts the biggest viewing audience for an hours worth of motor racing are they, and not only that If an England match or another big game, clashes with a BTCC weekend there will be a decrease in people attending the BTCC weekend at the venue

Rubbish, cos BSB is on as I type this and F1 is on this weekend. Someone at Toca is being an idiot and giving the fans 5 weeks of hell/football and superbikes!

Don't forget it's nice for the teams to have holidays too. I guess most of them are non stop all winter so this break will maybe allow them time off.

Didnt you see Silverstone for the F1? The sole reason they had so many people there was they had the world cup on huge screens, so fans didnt miss out. And yeah im sure that there has always been a few weeks break before Croft. And I bet the F1 will have huge screens there again so fans dont miss out. And when there no matches on at Wimbledon im sure they will switch there huge screen to the World cup for fans.

Not really, no. Many staff members are only contracted until the end of September/October and then are hired back again come the spring of the next year. Only the staff such as designers and engineers stay on for the winter. Most of the mechanics and other non-essential team members have no involvement during the winter.

I'm quite happy stringing it out a bit.

When you realise how far were into it already, a five week break helps lengthen the racing year and I'd much prefer that than to see it all over in 5 minutes so to speak.

You mean at Canada? If so why would they? Like aload of Canadians are gonna give a monkeys how well England do in a 'soccer' match half way round the World.

I think it makes good sense for BTCC not to clash with the World Cup - there is little doubt that it would adversely affect attendances at BTCC events and, of course, if World Cup matches covered by ITV clashed with BTCC, no prizes for guessing which they'd drop from the schedule! However, I'd not be in favour of a "summer break" as a regular feature of the BTCC season - let's keep the racing going!

I'd welcome a Summer break during the schools 6 weeks holidays, gives you a chance to get away without missing any racing.

So we are the only team in the World Cup? If so why have the tournament in Germany why not a street celebration every 4 years? People from all around the world travel to the race and there are a lot of fans from different countries that will still want to watch it.

Getting fed up to be honest. It's almost like the season never started!

well I have a reason for wanting the gap to be a bit longer - my camera has been in for repair for a week and on phoning the company they haven't even touched it yet :(

I think there should be a break, preventing the clash with the world cup, as it gives everyone a break as well as no loss of revenue from reduced attendances and no air time on ITV.

If we had all the rounds straight after each other, it'd be over way before October! It's not as if there isn't other motorsport on at the moment either, I've been busy almost every weekend and i've got stuff for the next two as well!

while i dislike football and look forward to the whole thing to be over and all the sheep removing their silly flags from thier cars.

The break has been a bonus!
it has allowed me the time to strip the lexus and work on lots of updates for croft.

also it has taken the pressure off a little as i work on 5 other cars in 4 different series.

but roll on being back to flat out again, a nice break, but once every 4 years is enough of that silly kicky ball hysteria!

True, why are they gonna care about how we do, because if they were in the World cup us English would'nt give a monleys how they do

The largest amount of fans recorded at a sporting event was for the Rally Argentina in the World Rally Championship just so you know.

As I said was it just England that was in the world cup? No and so your saying no one from the other countries that were still in didnt travel to Canada? Can I point out that there are fans from all over the world that travel with the F1 who would want to watch both events.
