NOT WITH THERACING BUT WITH THE FACILITIES...
Firstly Toilets out of order for over an hour
secondly they but bags over the cold water drinking taps, despite very hot weather conditions, was advised by a member of security that it was due vendors complaining that they were not selling any bottled water!!!
Thirdly the spekers were terrible so couldnt hear the commentary
fourth why do they allow people to put up tents at the top of the banks taking all the room, and then leaving them there the saturday night so therefore reserving their place for sunday, some one even had a large gazebo on top of the bank on the first corner, left from saturday, and they didnt get there untill 11am on the sunday!!
general facilities are very poor a this circuit, it needs some money spending on it, if it intends to continue to fetch in big crowds... just my honest opinion which I have fed back to the circuit.

Don't know why he said that.
With the exception of a single tap located adjacent to the medical truck, none of the tap water at Croft is suitable for drinking without first being boiled.
I would guess the taps were covered up to prevent people from making themselves ill by drinking contaminated water.

Yes i agree with that some of the water taps werent even working. But you shouldnt have to pay an arm and a leg to stop yourself passing out with lack of water and heat exhaustion.

Another thing i didnt like at Croft was the lack of places to shelter out of the heat.
We tried shading under trees and in the car when we could. know its a very exposed track being an ex - Airfield but it did get abit annoying. Even having loads of of sunscreen on i still burnt. Its not the first time thats happened.
As far as the toilets go i was quite impressed by the ones i used past Hawthorn. they were quite clean.

I dont agree with any of these comments made, in 2005 it was poor but I have seen improvements in Croft this year. Which toilets where these?

The toilets i used were replacements for the perminent ones just before tower bend. there were mobile ones i think not portaloo. Ive been going to Croft for 7 years now and i have noticed changes but not alot.

At the end of the day if you dont want to get ripped off for food and drinks of stalls then take your own and keep them chilled in the freezer boxes or sommet, thats what we do, we put loads of freezer blocks in and it stays really cold no matter how hot it is

Sorry, but thats not the tracks fault is it? You'll have the same problem with Donington, Brands, Snetterton, Knockhill etc. These places are all exposed to the sun.

Every tracks the same, Not alot you can do about it, if you dont like being in the sun when its hot then dont go, I mean when its Donington in a fortnights time i might give it a miss if its hot like the last week or so because I'm no sunlover and dont realish the prospect of sun on my back all day, So I hope its a lot cooler by then, or I 'll be watching it on the box

It is their fault. If they expect people to pay ridiculous prices, they should be well catered for by the facilities. Even something like a picnic area with covered seating wouldn't go amiss. Just to get some respite from the sun. We had to sit behind our cars in the small bit of shade we got there for a while, as the heat out on the banks was just too intense. Out of all those tracks you've mentioned, only Knockhill has shelter from the sun/rain at some parts of the track.
The toilets were disgusting as well. I'm told the ladies loos behind the paddock were blocked midway through the afternoon on Sunday, something that's clearly unacceptable.

Knight Ladie,
Not being funny or anything but what about taking a golf umbrella or better still a fishing umbrella even if you have to borrow one off a friend. It's better than burning????

True all venues could do with catering for the fans much better but that would mean them having to spend money and lose profit, Thats all the tracks are interested in profit, profit, they dont give a damn about me,you, and everyone else who pays to go there.

Agreed and as yet i have had no reply from Croft management...
Toilets are a basis essential and should be kept in good order, I have ben going to Croft also for 7 or so years, and what changes have been made exactly well I can tell you...
wooden boarding to the grandstand to hide the scaffolding
the top of the bank lowered and flattened was sone in preparation for the BSB event.
recent new tarmac applied adjacent to the airfield.
exterior of toilets painted.
new window frames to offices adjacent to pit lane.
but what it really need is....
Breeze block building to situate toilets, cheaper than alternative toilets on hire, and for them to be kept maintained.
new tanoy system with improved speakers, and better situated
security officers with a basic knowledge of customer service.
cover for grandstand.

I don't agree. No other track apart from Silverstone have that, and Croft probably couldn't afford it. While I'm not saying that their facilities are good at all, its not fair to criticise a place for something that isn't unique to it. If its hot, take a golf umbrella or something!
Yeah thanks for that.

I noticed the toilets at the first corner were locked up on Sunday, however I filled my bottle with water from the tap, it had a notice above it saying "drinking water". Noticed the one near the TOCA VIP tent was taped up though.
Think it's just an excuse it isn't fit for consumption as surely it's piped in as water normally is to your house!

I have to agree wth some of the points above, this was my first visit to Croft and im considering going again to be honest, the Toilets were disgusting most of the day i nearly heaved in one!! it was so bad and there simply didnt seem to be anywhere enough to go round.
The PA was awful, worst of all circuits ive ever been to, couldnt hear the commentry 99% of the time.
Not so woried about the heat, its true these places have to be in the middle of nowhere so what to expect..? Just take plenty of cream, umberella or whatever!! I got burned but hey my choice to be there!!!
On the plus side the circuit is set in beautiful countryside, the racing was very good and the meeting well run as always, I met some great local people and had a wonderful time.
Oh well maybe a return trip next year after all...............??

I can see everyone's views, but to be honest there's a way to work around them all.
If there's no shade..take an umbrella or a small beach tent..cause they don't get in other peoples way too much & it keeps you out of the sun.
If you're worried about the tap water thing again..stock up on water and put them in a cool box...

It's odd - the teams moan about Knockhill but Croft is 10 times worse.
Every circuit should have somewhere for people to get out of the sun/rain/hail - whatever. No cafe or restuarant - think of the revenue they would get out of it. It would pay for itself quite quickly.
Toilets are awful and a lack of showers. I did hear that one block didn't turn up though. I remember one year that a team bosses wife threatened to bring in the enviromental health people.
Each year a bit more paddock gets tarmaced - give it another 5 years and the whole paddock will be on decent stuff.
Just thinking health and safety - number of people per toilet, no of food and drink outlets, steep banking that you can't sit on a chair on and absolutly treatourous in the wet (they could cut terraces which would be so much better), very rough ground in bits of the paddock, lack of shade (though a brolly could be taken) etc etc. Oh and I won't mention the agricultural lawnmower that I found in the dark!! Still got the bruises.

Les agree totally considering Knockhil and croft are about the same in terms of status KH has spent the money on brick built toilets that are resonably clean, covered terracing (not for shade but to protect you from the rain) and even on club racing days you have a wee bus that takes you round the track to save you a walk

From what you guys are saying it seems ridiculous,
But I've been to;
Snetterton, Brands, Donny, Silverstone, Cadwell Park & Rockingham.
& the only thing that annoys me about the circuits is that they're charging adult prices for people over 12 years old & that it's only Brands & Silverstone where you need passes to get down to the pits!
Other than that I think every circuit is good enough to enjoy the weekend.

BUT..... Pleeeaaase, try to provide better toilet facilities (and drinking water) - that should be a priority. :(

If anyone saw the BSB coverage last week Knockhill is looking spotless. Whole track has been resurface (quoted on itv at £400,000 cost) kerbs have been tidied up, and the main straight has been widened - can't wait to see the BTCC there this year - should be fun into Duffus!
Toilets are always clean when I see them, the only think that lets Knockhill down is some of the loose surface areas. Some quite big stones have so nearly fell over on them lots of times!

In all fairness, Croft attracts one of the biggest (if not the biggest) crowds of the year, and i think its unfair to complain to much. How many festaivals have people ben too where the loo situation is much much worse?
If you dont want to pay high prices from the vans then buy your drinks before you go, take a brolly, and some high factor sunscream.
Basic comon sence really. I mean you lot will be complaining that if it rained and you forgot ur brolly, that they didnt provide a free one.

I wasn't talking about bars to shelter in though, Jamie. I was meaning places where you could watch the racing while in the shade/shelter. And your 2nd point is irrelevant. We've all got to use the same toilets.

20 quid a ridiculous price? Not for a full days entertainment it isn't. Compare that to your local football club...
I have to agree about the toilets though. I thought they were poor this year. I didnt go to Croft in 2005, but I recall they were better in 02, 03 and 04. The Motorsport Vision circuits have great toilet facilites, and Croft would do well to take a leaf out of their book. Having said that, it is a great circuit for racing and that is what we go for.
I would also agree about taking your own stuff in a cool bag or box. We always do that. Took 12 bottles of water and the last one was still ice cold at 6 o'clock! Lovely! As for the tents, I don't see the problem. Those people thought ahead and at least they had some shade! We took a fishing shelter with us which was great for getting out of the sun.
This is the whole point. You know what to expect from these places. you know you are gonna get ripped off with food and drink prices and that you are basically going to be sat in the open all day. So think ahead, and make your own provision.
