HereÃ*s the next renewal of Who, what, where & when.
The answers for Teaser 12 are as follows:
WHO: James Thompson
WHAT: Formula Vauxhall Junior
WHERE: Knockhill
WHEN: 1992
Congrats to lauz for being the first person to solve the complete conundrum!
At the moment, John leads the WWW&W league with 5 correct answers. Stuart and Racefan_uk both occupy runner-up spot with 2, while lauz, Speedy and Claire each have 1.
HereÃ*s another one to test the grey matter on ñ again, the clues are all there if you know where to look and what's going on. Remember ñ I will need those four pieces of information from you:
WHO: driver
WHAT: car
WHERE: circuit
WHEN: the year this action took place
So hereÃ*s the next little teaser ñ good luck!

Derek Warwick
Jaguar XJR-6
1986
Circuit - would have said Le Mans (but obviously the track doesnt look like LM) also the car is Silk Cut sponsored - however in this picture the livery is covered / disguised which makes me think its the UK.
Therefore probably Brands or Silverstone............ Doesnt really look like either, but will say Brands because it looks more like BH than Silverstone

Much as it pains me to say it, I'm certain John is correct
Derek Warwick
Jaguar XJR6
Silverstone 1986
I think it was the first time Jaguar won in Group C...?

I'm going to be really nitpicky this time as both of you haven't quite got the chassis designation right... :) I want the FULL chassis type please.
Other than that, everything else is totally correct.
Stuart, you are certainly correct that this was Jaguar's first Group C win. In fact it was their first World Championship sportscar victory since 1957 when Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb won Le Mans in their D-type.

Nit-picky! You're not kidding!
Derek Warwick

Silverstone
Jaguar XJR-6 C1 ... (That what you are after?)
Unless you want the chassis number...

Racefan_uk: Still not quite right regarding the car's official designation. Right idea though ;)
As for chassis numbers, I have a book full of them...
Stuart

In think it was Jaguar XJR6-186
Stuart

Actually, as we're in nit picky mode, this particular car is actually Jaguar XJR-6.286
John

or 286 - liiks like you found the same website that I've been looking at!
Cant find anything that it coulb be other than C1 or something like V12.
There was a 186 and 286 but I dont know what the numbers stand for - chassis number maybe??
I will say Jag XJR6 286 (just to be different!)
Silverstone

I first saw Group C at Brands Hatch in 1986 and it absolutely blew me away! To this day I can't find a formula that is as spectacular.
I've got a book by Ian Briggs called Endurance Racing that covers the Group C / IMSA GTP era.
The results for the race show that XJR-6.286 won in the hands of Cheever / Warwick and XJR-6.186 driven by Schlesser / Brancatelli finished 7th.

I was looking at Le Mans results where DW had the 286 car. But he had the 186 at Silverstone did he?
All will be revealed no doubt!!

As to the current conundrum, the answer is:
WHO: Derek Warwick
WHAT: Jaguar XJR6-286
WHERE: Silverstone
WHEN: 1986
So, well done to Stuart for being the first person to get the answer right.
Sorry about being nitpicky, but I was using the book as my guide ñ I have a copy of that most excellent publication which I bought back in 1996. Also, the Autosport race report lists the car as a Jaguar XJR-6C, so I would have accepted either answer. John, the 286 is the chassis number ;)
I know what you mean about Group C, Stuart ñ I fell in love with it in 1988 after I was inspired by JaguarÃ*s Le Mans win. I didnÃ*t get to see the cars first time around, but IÃ*ve loved the times I saw them in the World Sportscar Challenge since. And after all this time, the cars still blow me away. As well as the book by Ian Briggs, I have another book exclusively on Jaguar V12 racing cars which looks at the Group 44 car, a book on Le Mans Porsches and a book called ìLancia Corseî which has serious in-depth detail of the LC1 and LC2 (it also has lots on the Lancia Delta S4 ñ one of my favourite cars of all time).
The current league standings are as follows:
1) John (5)
2) Stuart (3)
3) Racefan_uk (2)
4=) lauz, Claire & Speedy (1)
Next one to follow shortlyÖ

John - scroll up a bit... I was a bit quick off the mark with 186 and remembered my book... I then posted another reply a few mins later.... if thats cheating then I'll gladly hand that one to you as it might have been a bit cheeky of me...

Ok must have missed it - the only reason I put 286 was to be different to your answer anyway - so no problem :)
