How many different Ford models have won rounds of the BTCC since its inception (1958)? And what were they?

Thats a hard one!!
Overall wins only or class wins (ie does the Class B Focus count?)
I'll start with the obvious!!
-Mondeo
-Sierra (RS500)
-Cortina
-Escort
-Falcon
-Anglia
-Mustang
-Galaxie (presumably not an early version of the Galaxy people carrier!!) ;)
-Zephyr
They are the obvious ones, but Im sure theres more!

To keep it clear overall wins!
You are very close John - well done. Two more to go, and one of them is so obvious you will kick yourself!!;)
Very unprofessional!!!!!:D

Just to make it even more complicated - does it have to have a Ford badge on the front?! Volvo could be thought of as a Ford model (very vaguely!) - as could Jag! (think thats pushing my luck a bit though!!)
Theres the capri (cant be certain it won or not though)

Other thought is a Popular

There was a big hint in the "unprofessional" bit - I wasn't being rude!!!!
Think TV series!

Erm... how can I put this politely?! I think Im too young! ;) Guessed you were on about the Professionals - according to higher knowledge there was a Capri in that programme. That it? :)

Spot on young man!:p
Capris won over 60 races.
Now there is only one (rather old) model left (higher knowledge may be required again).

No! Right sort of vintage though.

Found it...... Mustang!!
that right?
(By the way Ford have 219 wins, the next highest is Vauxhall with 72 - so that shows how impressive Ford's tally is!!)

Can I be really picky and say that the Cossie ran in 2 specs.....
the original 1987 Sierra RS Cosworth and later
(possibly late 87 but definately '88) as a Sierra RS500 Cosworth.
There was a small aerodynamic change and the engine had a bit more power.
Ok... I know... back to my corner! :D

Yep I noticed that too - but think the model still classes as a Sierra - there was also the Saffire (although that never actually won a race)

Ah but you had aleady listed the Mustang.
Think Zephyr variations!!
Re the Sierra, there was also the 2 litre version as run post 1990 by people like Robb Gravett (which is what you referred to - the Sapphire). Won its class but never overall.
Of course there may be even more than I have found, but I don't think so!!!:)

Got there! Well done.:D
It's will be about now someone comes along and tells me there are more!!
I had to go in and amend my earlier thread, your spelling of sapphire threw me a bit (not getting at your spelling:) ).

I'm sure the version of the Cortina was the Lotus one rather than any of the standard models - I'm certain I've seen pictures of Jim Clark racing one at Brands and possibly Oulton as well. in the early to mid 1960s. Can't remember the exact year.
There were two types of Capri raced in the BTCC (Group 1 racing), classed according to the engine type - Essex or Cologne. Also, bodyshells were either a Mk1 or Mk3 by the looks of it.
From the blurb I've got to hand, the Colognes seemed to be the contemporaries of the Batmobile BMW's in the early/mid 1970s, while the Essex versions (with the later bodyshells) were around in Gp 1 racing in the early 1980s - well, I have reference to the last Capri Gp 1 car being built in '82 by/for CC Racing at any rate, and it was driven by Vince Woodman to runner-up in that year's BTCC.

You are of course correct - it was Lotus Cortinas all the way through.
There were several variations of lots of the models all the way through, but I was just keeping things simple!!!:D
At least Ford never ran estates! Ho hum!
Also of course as someone said there was the Focus, but it never won a race outright (did it?).

Nope - Harrison, Graves and Moen were the only drivers to win overall (ie by beating the tourers in the Sprint race when they did a lap less).
