Where is the best place to view all the action at Rockingham?
Am asking this due to the fact that i've never been there, and have read a lot of posts about people raving about it.
Any help would be greatfully recieved

You can see the whole circuit from most of the Grandstands. :)

From any of the grandstands! The circuit has the best viewing in the country!

The reason I didn't say all was the lower seats opposite the pits, where you lose sight of the infield track behind the pits.:) But yes - definitely the best viewing anywhere. And all seated!

Here is an aerial photo. Select Rockingham from the list of tracks

How open is rockingham though?
I'm thinking I want to be near turn 3 (well, whatever number the heavy braking off banking into the hairpin will be called, depending on what layout used)
because that's where the action is, but I don't think there's a Grandstand there so will Rockingham allow you to sit on the banking near there or something, or will it be all roped off?

rule 1: the higher you are the better the overall view.
rule 2: if you don't want tennis neck and the weather's set fair, it's probably best to sit around the middle of the t1 grandstand(seats 100-200 in the top row). STAY OUT OF MY SEAT. you'll have an excellent view of the chicane (should they decide to use it) and you can see down the start finish straight without the catch fencing partially hiding the cars that are alongside the wall. you're also less likely to miss what's happening to your left when you're looking right.(believe me, it's happened to me when sitting in the rockingham building) it's also traditionally closer to all the trade stands and main food wagons and of course the outer paddock(where the support classes usually are).
rule 3: t4 grandstand will give a better view of them coming through the (widened) superbike link(if that's the configuration they choose)back on to the start finish straight but the t2 entry to the infield(usually all action on the first lap) will be distant but still visible.
rule 4: if the weather looks iffy, head for the top level of the rockingham building AT THE START OF THE MEETING because if it's as well attended as expected you'll be lucky to get in there later.
rule 5: if you do choose the rockingham building top level be aware that people tend to lean forward so your view left or right(along the home straight) may be compromised.
rule 6: a compromise is the middle level of the rockingham building(in front of the hospitality suites. not covered, fewer rows of seats and not the same view as the top level but nice for seeing what's going on in the garages.
rule 7: the lower level t1 and t4 grandstand seats and the grass area in front of the rockingham building are really only for those wanting to be close to the cars as they pass.
rule 8: the garage roof is an opportunity for a different perspective but i wouldn't want to be up there all day. ok for saturday but i'd personally give it a miss on sunday unless you really want to be close to the pitlane.

pretty sure that area(it's oval turn 2 or deene hairpin) is not accessible at any time. the closest you could get is if they open the south grandstand but i don't think they've had that open since 2002(?)

They might need to open it for the BTCC races. There are a lot of people planning to go.
