The bit of the cars that you sit in, in almost every case, remained intact and gave the drivers excellent protection. Dave Pinkney must have hit the back of a virtually stationary Matt Neal at full racing speed but, if you look at the Alfa, the damage is all in front of the "A" pillar, which is not deformed at all, nor was the roof, which is prone to "folding" in crashes like this, and the doors look to fit ok too. In Matt Neal's car, it looks like one of the cross members at the bottom of the roll cage has bent - is it meant to be that shape? But the construction of the cars definitely prevented potentially serious injuries.

I didnt realise Ricks car had that much damage!

um... Giovanardi looks like he's having to defend from Turkington - which meant, he had to take a tight line into Paddock Hill... which meant having to try and pass Jordan.

how are people getting pictures without fences in the way? I was standing at the top of Paddock hill bend and got some decent pics but the safety fence stands out in all my pics.

there;s a couple of places you can poke a camera through the fence (clearways for one)

I use a 170mm - 500mm telephoto zoom lens so usually I can shoot through the fencing. Otherwise you can cross over the footbridge leading up to Druids and get some photos without fencing. Also over at McLaren/Clearways there's a good spot with no fence.

I use a 300mm lens with 1.4x Teleconverter which at 400mm is enough to remove the fence.

Hey people!

I've just joined here.. I'm 15, and recently I started enjoying watching motor sports like the BTCC, and rallies. I went to Brands Hatch last year, and I know that this thread is old but, like I said, I've just joined, so I hope I can be forgiven :)

I took loads of photos, its something I'm really into. I won a competition with this shot, obviously I photoshopped it, but I hope I will be posting most of my shots regularly this season!
