Okay

Slightly different this time.
Its the same circuit and the same year as the last one I did. But...

I want...

Drivers name
Car type
And the team he drove for...

Happy hunting!

Interesting one to say the least ;)

I know who it is, and I have a good idea of what the car is. Just need to see whether my intuition about the car is correct. I thought it was something else at first, but when I looked closer, there are some subtle differences between what I first thought it was and what I now think it is.

Am I making sense?

The sponsorship gives away the driver
Chris Goodwin
The team is Jonathan Lewis Racing with Telenova
I'm a little cautious as to the car, purely because Reynard is, but I think its a Van Diemen FR90

Stuart got it again!

It is a Van Diemen and the team was spot on. And it is Chris Goodwin.

That's about all I have for BTCC drivers now, everything else is mainly GT or single seater.

We'll have to keep guessing at Reynards incredibly difficult pictures now instead!

Yeah, t'was indeed Chris Goodwin. As I couldn't remember about the sponsorship, I had to do a bit of extra legwork.... (my 1990 Autosports are 75 miles away :( )

I'd also pencilled in Tiff at one point as a) he's got a similar helmet and b) he's done all sorts of one-offs that everyone's probably lost track of by now, including me ;)

I wasn't so sure about the Van Diemen initially as the usual Van Diemen design policy in the late 80s and early 90s meant that their cars had a nose profile more like a shovel - look at their FF1600 cars and the FR91 for starters, as well as their F3 car. Also the side pods looked more like those off an F3 car rather than the ones they had on the 91 FRenault.

However, I've found another pic of an FR90 and it matches.

It certainly wasn't a Swift as their FRenault design stayed fairly constant at the time and it is a different shape. At one point I was thinking it could also possibly be a Pilbeam, an Orion, a Martini or an Alpa as they've all had FRenault chassis in the UK series at the time.

The creaking noise you hear is me putting my foot in my mouth :p
