There has been a lot of talk about drivers who are unable to raise enough sponsorship to race this season. It seems that Gavin is doing something about this, according to the article in Autosport, this sounds like a good idea to me.
It gives the supporters a chance to help the drivers out. Gavin instructs at Goodwood with a friend of mine so I will be taking part. Lets hope he raises enough money, what do people think?

I'm thinking about participating in this scheme - would like to give Gavin my full support as he is Scottish like me. But something that's miffed me is that JP will be getting paid to drive - I can only but worry I would be helping subsidise his drive which would not be the reason I would do it.

Sorry, I know little about the Gavin Pyper initiative, please could someone enlighten me ? Hasn't Justin Wilson done something innovative in F1 ? Might this be indicative of how times, (teams) are? Wouldn't GA motorsport offer Jason a salary not only to drive the thing for 90 minutes every fortnight, but for his technical input. For sure, Plato is bound to be an object of media scrutiny, and rightly so, thereby increasing the profile of the team and their sponsorship partners. If this isn't an April 1st spoof, as was my initial reaction, GA Motorsport might have pulled off a masterstroke. Surely the team will generate revenue naturally now, without the fear of potential Pyper partners subsidising Jasons salary.

Stig, the deal is that Pyper has a Fantasy BTCC championship running via his website. To take part it costs you £10 per entry, and through this Pyper is hoping to subsidise his drive a little. Autosport did say he still needed £100k for his drive.
The Fantasy championship has 2 prizes. The 1st being a Test day in the GA Motorsport Astra helped out by Gavin and they will put you through your ARDS if needby. 2nd prize is a test day (again with help from Gavin) in the GA Alfa Romeo 156.

hmm... it was £15 when I entered!
Couldn't resist the chance of winning one of the prizes though :D

Thank you touringlegend for this clarification. Wonder how lucrative the initiative might be, if at all. Gavin Pyper deserves to succeed, in and out of the car.

It says in Autosport that Gavin is racing for GA on a race by race basis. I hope he can secure a deal to complete the whole season.

I can think of one person that might not agree with Lauz.
"The netting is there to stop drivers arms from exiting the car, usually not from entering the car" or words to that affect, spring to mind.
In all fairness to Gavin, he is a very talented driver, but clearly feels he has a lot to prove, which has often led to him making over ambitious moves which only make him unpopular with other drivers. He needs to moderate his aggression.
I really thought Mat Neal was going to smack him one.
