WTH happened there was a crash then 5 minutes later they all got sent off!
If I was racing in that championship id start asking for race fees back!
If im right theres about 70 cars racing in the championship and only 30 ish dependent on track can actually qualify to race.
I can imagine there wasa few unhappy clio drivers in the paddock I like watching them as its always full of action.

Appears the Clio race went ahead at 6pm after the other support races. Have to say this makes the original decision harder to swallow as we left after the 2nd Seat race and there was no mention of the Clio race being re scheduled.

The start of the first Clio race was Crazy, Clio racing is almost like a Destruction Derby.
Even in the Warm up Laps they were spinning off.
Good racing though.

That's the first time I've seen the whole field get sent off for bad behaviour!

cheers for updating us there.
it was stupid - the amount of damage that was caused.
i was right where Hodgetts, Pead and Dymond came together - Ed Pead's car needs a LOT of work to get it straight again.
Stefan - what an idiot. Trying to get heat in the tyres, or trying for a career in beuing a drifter?

I am so fed up of watching Stefan doing his power slides. Most times he just scares the living daylights out of the drivers around him but this time he was just plain stupid - hit the barrier and then parked the car on circuit and walked off knowing it would be a red flag. When are the offiicals going to realise he is using this spin/slide/correction to do a practice start and stop it?
Any way race was interesting - Paul Rivett won and was so so pleased. It was if he had never been away. Martin Byford 2nd and Ben Winrow 3rd and Phil House in 4th - great result for him.
Shepherd the younger was storming up the field as well - I've not seen him do that before.

OK,lets clear this one up.
1)1st incident at Graham Hill:Dymond drops it,Ed Pead has to lift and resultant lift off oversteer creates big prob,Stefan has to avoid(SLIGHT touch to front wheel)but generally misses Ed.(at the start,Stefan touches pit wall with front wheel off the line.....this comes into play later)
2)Restart,green flag lap,Stefan does his usual at Graham Hill, left front trackrod snaps PRIOR to the grass.then barrier.also upright failure on the inner kerb as rod breaks.
3)Restart green flag lap:Ben Winrow spins immediately at paddock hill bend, but gets away with it.
Now may I suggest that all of the people who critisise on this forum, get off their bums, find the money, and go and have a go themselves;then, and only then, will they be in a qualified position to pass ACCURATE and factual comment.
Paul Rivett....very well done mate,as I would have expected.

If this is the case did the team already have spare track rods or uprights? I only ask as Momo did not buy any parts for the front of the car.
I think this is an excuse. He is a class driver that got a bit too cocky.
Paul Rivett deserved everything last weekend. Awsome driver :)

yes. at the end of the day, after all the single seaters had finished.
they didnt announce it though til after a lot of people had gone, so when they raced, Brands was pretty quiet.
and the Clios were tame as well

Yes, because as we all know going clio racing is as easy as phoning up a local company and asking for ?70,000 to go racing with

i enjoy watching clio's good fun to watch and there is always loads of action in it like at brands hatch yesterday, but i think there is too many cars in the cup, 32 cars coming down paddock dosent go and it was no surprise there was a accident. shame the race got cancelled but it was there fault.

Of course parts were in stock with the team.
However, had Renault checked EVERY car post qualifying, there may well have been 20 cars on the back of the grid with a 10sec penalty....
parts are carried on various teams trucks for fear of not being able to obtain them on raceday due to demand.
At the beginning of the season, teams were asked to 'work with us'(Renault)and be considerate and patient reference the front upright debacle.Result?
kick us in the proverbial nuts.
And,subsequent to the radiator mounting part being unavailable on the day,....change the regulations for Sunday to allow alternative fixing!!!
So,start from the back with a 10 sec penalty, have championship points docked, drive your nuts off and finish 7th passing loadsa cars without a touch,to be treated like this.(and this after your best mate has lost his life in an RTA on Thurs pm)
Thanks.
and NO,its not a ****** excuse.
Am I angry? too ****** right I am.
What these championships need is a 'referee' who has raced at the highest level(Tim Shenken Aussie V8's style).
Not individual Clerks of courses for each series who have never even sat in a racecar.
The whole system needs a major revamp.
Clios:42 cars registered;how many have either fallen short on budget or become disillusioned with the series.
We try hard to maintain a level playing field and abide by requirements, however sometimes common sense does not prevail, and if decision makers were on the receiving end(like us,who, lets not forget, are CUSTOMERS),then I am sure attitudes from those on higher (perceived)pedestals might reconsider their draconian actions.

I totally agree with "revlimit" we have had people ask us to run them in next years championship and we have had to say no as we do not agree with how it is currently being ran.
For spectators yes it is "entertaining" for drivers/teams etc it is far from entertaining.

Sorry, i'm abit late to this discussion! But just had to say my bit!! ;) I wasn't at Brands this time so didn't get the box seat, but i have been reading bout what happened. And i think to call Stefan Hodgetts 'an idiot' is a little harsh there! :( He is an incredibly, enthusiastic and commited guy who loves his job and just made a mistake, on what was a highly charged days racing! I read in Motorsport News that he's been beating himself up about it, so i somehow think he's already feeling rather bad bout the whole thing. :( So you have nothing to worry about there! C'mon Stefan, you can get that lead back!! :D

I don't think Stefan scares the other drivers. Yes he does sometimes have an aggressive style of racing, but thats his signature. Fernando Alonso also has a habbit of warming up the tyres rather intensely, just this time Stefan got it abit wrong. A mistake!! :( I really do believe that he doesn't 'spin' and 'slide' just to do practice starts. As i said its just his way of doing things. Stefan is so passionate about his racing and a lovely guy to go with it, and i don't think any of the other drivers in the Clio Cup have a problem with him. :) C'mon S.H don't worry bout Brands, you can do it!! ;)

Well Mr Jiimmy(why hide behind a false name?),tell you what, you can come and see Stefan at Knockhill(as you are now going to run a Touring car I believe),and TELL HIM YOURSELF.No,he isn't racing(no clios),but he IS working there for his best mate Matt Jackson;Stefan will be on the air jacks and right rear wheel, plus grafting his nuts off to ensure we nail a few(as a team,'cos that's what we are),and we are a pretty determined bunch who don't take prisoners,so,come out of the pretence and face the Boy yourself!
In addition, may I suggest you do a little more homework before passing derogatory comments.

O.k i assume that was meant for me. (please forgive me if it wasn't, but i'm gonna stick up for myself anyway as i won't be around for a few days) First of all i'm a Miss.Jimmy and my name, if its relavent, is Jo. Secondly i'm not entirely sure why you replyed to my comment the way you did and i was a little taken aback by it. :( (if it was aimed at mine that is) I think Stefan, as i've already said in my other conversations on here, is a fantastic, commited, and passionate driver and i love to watch him race. I certainly didn't mean for my comments to be derogatory. O.k maybe i miss wrote what i said bout him being 'agressive' and i'm sorry for that but its just my way of describing him. Maybe 'unique' is a better word, i don't know. I watched him in 2004 or whenever it was in his Vauxhall i think, and i've been following him this year in the Clios from Rockingham onwards. He has brilliant car control and his own style, and i really hope he is around next year racing too. So please don't get me wrong revlimit, i was merely sticking up for your boy! :o Unfortunately i can't go to the Knockhill meeting, but i will be at Thruxton if you want me to clear anything up?! ;) But i truly am just sticking up for him, and again i'm sorry if you read my message rather differently, or i worded it wrong. :( I hope he has fun working on Mat's car at the weekend, and that both of you can help get him a step closer to the Independents Title.
Regards, Jo. :)

Alittle case of misunderstanding I think on forum names maybe.
There have been a few pointed comments on here regarding a dislike for both Mat and Stefan, and i apologise if my replies have been accidently directed at the wrong user.
kind regards,

No worries! I think we've all done it from time to time! :p Mat and Stefan are two of the nicest guys in racing, and i can't understand some of the negative comments about them either. But then i guess thats other people's opinions. :( Anyway LOADSA LUCK for Mat at Knockhill! :D I hear he and the team have worked really hard to get the car fixed in time. ;) I'm away for abit now, but all the best.
