What a start to the season, can't wait for brands now! Sometimes the season starts a bit slow as everyone is getting used to new cars etc but that was fantastic.

Totally agree - the wet weather certainly spiced things up a bit.

I also think that Motors TV did a good job - there is no way I could get to Mondello

Also impressed with motors tv coverage. Next best thing to being there! Shame Matt Neal had such bad luck but onward and upward to Brands I suppose. Great race though!

I agree, Motors TV put on a fantastic show. I was well impressed with the commentators. Ben Edwards and Tim Harvey seem to have between them a perfect balance of knowledge and experience. The continuity was remarkable for a live broadcast and no adverts during the racing unless the safety car was out and nothing else was going on. I think I will start watching the German touring cars if Motors TV maintain that standard. Brilliant! :)

Great coverage by MotorsTV and the commentators and I don't think live TV prevents people from being there, in fact, it makes me want to be there even more for some reason! wasn't quite so sure on the choice of music for the highlights at the end, maybe they could be more 'highlighted' and have a better tune for them, the one they used was very short and repeated alot!

All in all, a very enjoyable day. Can't wait till the next meeting!

My only problem with the motors coverage was that music they kept playing over the highlights, it got a bit annoying after a while. Apart from that I thought it was very well done.

i thought the motorstv coverage was excellent as well, tim harvey was great, he wasn't affraid to say what he thought, and vicky did a great job in the pit lane.
gareth howell was very good on the support races too.
but that music they played over the race highlights was awful, something from the 80's.

All in all very good I thought - plenty of action to keep the commentators busy. They didn't seem to miss too much of that action either.

Placing of the adverts was generally during safety car periods too which was good planning - wonder what will happen when there are no safety car periods?

Thought Tim Harvey was excellent - he made some very interesting comments during the races.

As for the music for the highlights - I can only agree, think they could find something better than that wouldn't you. I have heard better "on hold" music on the 'phone!!!

Well done to the whole team - keep it up!

aaargh! It was only about 10 seconds long, so i must have heard it near to 100 times.

No wonder the last two nights when i've been trying to get to sleep it's been coming back to me and keeping my up for ages :o

can't say it's not catchy ;)

My first exposure to Motors TV and most impressed, particularly by Tim Harvey. However good the presenters, former drivers with recent experience definitely add something. This coverage will be a lifeline, compared to the ITV delayed highlights last year. Can't spend the days after a meeting avoiding page 360 on teletext and not using two or three of my favourite websites in order to avoid the results.

I was really pleased that I managed to watch the races on Motors whist still on holiday.
Excellent commentary by Tim and Gareth (who was feeling a little 'spare' on qualifying day).

What was the ITV cut down version like?

Same as last year, nothing new really from the bits I saw. An edited version of the MotorsTV coverage. Presumably ITV purchased a highlights package, not really sure how it works. With access to Motors coverage won't both with the ITV show a week later.

The ITV version had on board cameras and some extras like VBH and Tim Harvey on the grid. The most amusing was the onboard camera in Gavin Pypers car, still none the wiser as to exactly what Matt said to him except that he's a plonker. :D

Anyone know what the song actually was?

80s music is better than any rubbish nowadays.

Matt Neal apparently told Gavin Pyper "he was a plonker" and that "he would get him back" On the commentary, Tim Harvey gently took the rise out of him. If that was all Matt Neal said, then I greatly admire his restraint. From the initial door slam and the march across the kitty litter, I thought, uh oh!! Unless of course the TV types indulged in a bit of clever editing.
Have seen loads of verbal spats and arguments in the pit lane afterwards, but can anyone more knowledgeable than I, remember fisty cuffs after racing incidents.

Was it "you spin me right round" cos it would be appropriate for the BTCC!

I thought the covergae was excellent. Much better then the rubbish Eurosport serve up, and maybe the ITV F1 covergae team could learn a few lesson form this
