Hi, I've just got back from Thruxton where I was sat right by the complex. On the first lap of race 3 Menu held Plato wide for ages and subsequently cost him places and any chance of really fighting up front. I had read that the guest drivers had to behave and were not to be used as wingmen, but Menu's move was overtly tactical in my view.

How did it come across on TV? Were any of you surprised?

Not in the least bit suprised. Menu did the job he was brought in to do IMO.
Anybody that didnt think Menu would be a wingman, needs to smell the coffee really.

yeah i felt kinda silly shouting out... 'they said they wouldn't do that!!'. :o

I suppose the intentions for the guests were obvious but it still hurts as we could have had FG and JP fighting mano a mano.

Its a shame really, but I wont blame VXR for it.
Personally I think the championship needs a rule change to stop this sort of sandbagging.

yeah its a hard thing, we want more cars in btcc but bringing them in like vxr ad seat did?

they should of have to bring the 3rd car in by say mid-season?

vauxhall didnt bring a driver of menu class to just have a bit of fun. dont matter what the rule book said they knew what they was doing! not menus fault. just doing what was asked of him.

Good to see Alain back again this weekend, a great character and a nice bloke too, I was a little disappointed he didnt do better in race 3 after his front row start, otherwise i think he did pretty much what was asked of him, as for changing the rules i dont think thats needed the third cars just add to the drama.

They do add to the drama, but I find it hard to take.
It must be hard for the drivers that have been there all season long, if there is a drama involving the third addition.
Its just an ingredient for more controversy IMO.

The truth is that SEAT would have done exactly the same with their third car (the very reason they had it there!) but Turner and Coronel were not on the pace to get involved in the title battle like alain & Tom were, that is motorsport with such a prize on offer teams are gonna do everything they can to win!

Hmmm, a race driver tries to keep the guy behind him, behind him. What's the story there. If a driver comes up on your outside on a corner, you drive to the edge on the exit. Makes sense dosen't it. Or am I missing something? (wouldn't be the first time!)

i think the battle between seat and vauxhall was fare enough if you had to put your money on menu and coronel well its easy to pick isnt it menu has had allot more experience than coronel if there was just the three seats and the three vauxhalls on the grid it would of been a fare battle but like someone else has said this is motorsport its never plain sailing is it i just wish matt neal had kept his oar out of it.

im glad they brought menu back cos its good to see a btcc legend return, plus it gives cornel a chance to see if he would consider the btcc in the future.
(i saw cornel picture on the back of hes truck, lol) :)
