View Full Version : All respect for Neal is gone!

 I have never watched BTCC or have never really followed it in my life. However, whilst in a discussion with a good friend of mine today (naming no names but she knows who she is) I was disgusted with the antics of Matt Neal at the Season Finale at the weekend. She described the goings on in the race to me and her dissapointment that the season couldn't have been decided in a fair and just way.

JP may have finished second but he has gained the respect of me (albeit without seeing it) and many others with his performance. Bring on next season I say, when I shall hopefully be watching and cheering on Plato to the title.

P.s Karma Chameleon is a true classic, theres no shame there (Shifty eyes)! :)

With all respect, by your own admission youve never watched or followed the series, Id suggest that 1. you do because your really mising out and 2. try not to make a judgement based on this one incident and the opinion of a friend (however informed she maybe) Motor racing by its nature has always been full of controversy, and thats why we love it!

But there is a lot of ill informed speculation, gossip etc going round re this incident! youll find this forum is ful of people who love the sport and support different drivers, sometimes because of this the facts get a bit blurred!!

Nippy,

I agree, you should definitley watch BTCC. Some say its better to watch than rugby... Although I'd advise to watch both.
Im sure you can get hold of a copy of the race and form your own opinion of the event, even if it may not change much ;)

.... Karma Chameleon?! Bucksfizz are better...

how many more matt neal bashing threads must there be, personally i dont care. neal has stated that he had a problem with the car which he suddenly managed to adjust to when plato was behind him. hmmm.. a tall tale me thinks, i am another who has lost all respect for matt neal.

karma chameleon??????? a reasonable song but never cool

editor 1 can do what he likes, the fact is though that unless some amazing coincedence did happen, then his actions were digraceful. we will never know though, matt is the only person who truly knows. every one who watched knows that neal could blatantly be seen waving the vauxhalls by. even if there was a problem surley he could have tried to put up a fight.

...and it just so happens that he decides he can drive the car through the problem as soon as Jason was behind him...the man he cannot stand and doesnt get along with................

His statement that he is a team player says it all!
As he had signed for VXR prior to thruxton, he is a man of his word at least!

I hope vxr are happy with their new unsportsmanlike signing.

Its good to have some who agree with me. I know everyone will have their favorites so i'll try not to be too biased in future posts. I'm trying to fight for Justice.

On another note Bucks Fizz were awesome in their day! p.s You're the PNC Bureaus Number one;) not me:) Fight for Justice - you know who you are!

apart from anything...neal was still part of team halfords despite him signing for vxr...so he should have been driving for halfords not vauxhall...says it all really!

Hmmm....I was sort of thinking the same thing

"what sort of problem did you have Matt?"
"the sort that gets better whan you see Jason Plato in your rear view mirror"

You all comment on matt neal, its not like jason plato hasnt done anything like that. And no one comments on that. Remember silverstone and knockhill 05? in my view, i think its all a publicity stunt.

if you are a true Neal fan as i am u would still support Matt in what ever decisions he does. just cos he is moving team doesnt mean u shudnt stop supporting and respecting him. i am still showing all support as i have over the years for Matt Neal as he is a very skilled driver.

I think it is quite nice to see he is going to be a team player! Just remember plato hasnt always been a gent. I can remember plenty of things going back through the years which he has been involved it! I can truefully say i am not a big fan of either driver, but just remember they are out there doing a job for their selves, for their team (and their newly signed teams). I am sure plato would have done the same as mat!!

you know ive said that i think neal was in the wrong and theres been pleanty of times over the years that plato has been in the wrong in some way yes they are as bas as each other but theres a diffrence between pushing and shoveing or even trying to cut each other up but waveing other drivers past in them kind of sercumstances thats completley diffrent.

ye he was talented that wasnt even in the race it was free practice he did that .luckily for him there was a tree stopping him falling down a big hill into a lake. unluckily for the family his dad binned his car a couple corners on then when they brought there trailor on the circuit to recover it they drove into the bridge and damaged the trailer and the bridge. a good weekend for them id say. wudnt you????:D :)

that was then though...we're talking about a clean fight for the championship which has taken place all season between two top drivers who have kept a professional clam and collected relationship throughout the season...and it takes one person to spoil it...and you cant say jason has played dirty all season cos then you'd be lying!

If in 08, Fabrizio ends up thrashing Neal in the Championship, I wonder if he will be beggig Daddy to take him back in 09.

I think VXR's line up for next season is very interesting indeed.

Im a Neal fan through and through, but I dont understand how if you never watched the BTCC or followed it in your life how you can have lost respect for Matt Neal, Its impossible to have and lost respect before you even seen him race any other race other than Race 3 at Thruxton

Yeah true but what a way for a driver to dissapoint a potential new fan of the sport.

I, on the other hand always used to be a bit of a Neal fan and I remember being moved (almost) to tears when he did the double at Brands in his Primera and won 250,000 pounds. But his antics over the last two seasons have made me lose any respect that I may have had for him he alsmost won some back after his interview on TTT about the crash at Brands, but last Sunday sealed it for me.

Next season I'd rather see anyone in the grid win other than Matt Neal

Thanks For Nothing Matt

I wonder if they'll be keeping the limited edition Matt Neal signature gearknobs in the Team Dynamics section of Halfords?
