If I get a little pedantic (and knowing what you mean) you actually need a long shutter speed to photograph lightning - with a low aperture setting! Find where the lightning is likely to be, set an exposure of a few seconds and a low aperture and away you go!!

We had heavy rain earlier but no thunder (unfortunately, I love thunderstorms!), its cleared up now. Hoping it all goes away before the weekend, don't fancy clay pigeon shooting in the rain.
