anywhere you can see the complex or the chicane are my personal favorites.
There is a nice big bank which offers a really good view or you can go in the grandstand.

Go to the Campbell, Cobb & Seagrave complex. There is always action there.

I've been at the chicane and complex before, and I have to say the Complex was better.

The Complex is definately the place to go.

The view from the Complex is great but it is a long walk from the paddock.

Yep. I'm going. :)
I agree with those who said the best place to spectate at Thruxton is at the Complex. There's always plenty of action there!! (and it's near the ice cream van!!! :p)

As Thruxton is very much my local I really don't have an excuse - I'll be there.
As for age... put it this way - I watched Jeff Allam at Thruxton spin his Rover Vitesse on lap 1 and end up finishing second... that was 20 years ago...;) (mind you I was only 12 then!)

I usually watch one race at the chicane & one at the complex - both are excellent.
I will defnitely be there & I have a housefull of visitors too as its my local circuit (beating Brands by about 10 miles!)

I'll be there at the complex, with my video camera and a very partisan Thompson fan ;)

It looks as if we're all going to be down at the Complex together.
Is there some sort of secret 'sign' that identifies us as a member of the ToCA forum? :D It would certainly be great to meet up with some of you guys at Thruxton. ;)

Like Allan McNish was at Imola - anyone else notice that? Did an interview with ITV and he had a Renault cap on with Trulli's car number and his helmet logo!! The might of Renault doesnt even extend to making some McNish caps!! ;)
(Sorry to go off topic, but that last post reminded me of that interesting fact!!) :D

now that reminds me of Monday - talking to Paul O'Neil and I noticed he had a very nice cap with his name embroidered on it so I grabbed it (being a collector of caps) and plonked it on my head. Ten minutes later as he is leaving I get the 'please can I have the cap back - it's the only one I have and I need it for my TV interview'. oops ;)

Sadly, it doesn't look as though I'll be going to Thrux this year :( Hoping I can make it to Silvestone if I've passed me driving test!

I will be there, I'm one of Ann's lodgers for the weekend. Hope to watch one race from the bank near the last chicane and the other from the complex. I will be the one with the big camera bag and a Team Halfords jacket. As for my age a bit older than 15!! ;)

I will be present on Monday. I usually watch the races from the complex, as you can see at least two thirds of the circuit from there.

My complimentary 2 day tickets (with paddock passes) arrived today from a GreenFlag competition I forgot I entered, d'oh! - now I've got to find someone to drag with me... will probably camp over and be there Sunday and Monday.

We'll be there!
Should arrive Saturday evening. Will be about with Camera and Tape Recorder on Sunday. Then we will be donning our Orange Overalls on the Monday for our duties as Marshals.

This is awful - I am going to miss qualifying and the first Clio and Porsche race. The first time for ages but I have clashed with my mates being in the GTs at Silverstone.
So Jim, Tom, Alan etc you can breathe easy but not for long as I will be back with a vengence on the Monday.

I'll probably be sheltering from the rain in the media centre. I've seen the weather forecast and hope it's wrong :(
The Stig
15th May 2003, 09:59 PM
I do too. I haven't seen the forecast. I can't make this weekend, and I really hope all the people who follow the BTCC through thick and thin have better weather than the Mondello round. The same weather as Snetterton last year would be nice.
Ann
15th May 2003, 11:47 PM
We've had cold & wet at Mondello, hot with sunburn at Brands, what does that leave us with for Thruxton? Maybe snow or hailstones (plenty of those recently!) or how about a little tornado?!!
Amanda
16th May 2003, 03:47 PM
Snow gets my vote! I have been at Thruxton in the snow before!!
Reynard
16th May 2003, 03:53 PM
If it was Snetterton, you'd likely get a fen blow! :) That's like sitting in a sandblaster!
Bottom line is, you need to be prepared for all weather possibilities - I keep everything from sunscreen to thermals in the car...
Les
16th May 2003, 09:35 PM
no more hail - I've had that at Knockhill.
It will be dry and a nice breeze so not too hot.
Stig - you are sounding as if it is this weekend - try next weekend!

Come on, it's a bank holiday, it's bound to be sunny!
I'm looking forward to it, it will be my first time at Thruxton, and as my dad as declined to come along, I'm taking (dragging) along a friend who has never been to a race meeting before. We'll be camping from Sunday and leave Tuesday morn... pm me if you want to meet up or something! :)
Stuart

HHmmm...BTCC at Thruxton on a May bank holiday monday...
Over the years I've got soaked, been sun burnt, got freezing cold... I'll be taking full water proofs and sun block!

I'll Be there for both days to capture all the drama on my good ol' camcorder. Won't be there till the afternoon on the qualifying day as I am racing at Thruxton kart circuit in round 3 of the pro-kart endurance championship everyone is welcome as it is free entry (race kicks of ate 11am and finishes at 5pm) our Kart number is no1 and I'll be in a blue and silver race suit.
See you there
Jamie

Sounds like an interesting diversion Jamie P-E!
Forgive the ignorance please but where is the kart track at Thruxton? I must have seen signs or something but it can't have registered with the brain cell!!:o
Good luck with your races!:)

From what I remember Jamie telling me at Brands its away from the main circuit & would involve getting out of the car park & back in again. Sorry if I'm wrong and/or putting off potential supporters Jamie!

Ann, you can actually walk to the track but it's a good 5 minutes. but as I've said everyone is more than welcome to come down, its free entry and the race in on all day,I'll out in the second stint which will be from around 1230-1400hrs (i'll be in blu and silver overalls and white helmet.
see you there
Jamie
