For those lucky enough to be there and acquaintances watching Motors TV, who would you nominate as your driver of the day ?
For me it's a straight choice between Michael Bentwood and Paul O'Neill. Would probably go for Paul O'Neill because he did enough to win the first race and for the class he showed on the podium so soon after giving up a certain second race win.

Paul for sure.

My vote goes to Michael Bentwood. He did an excellent job in both races and is now leading the production class.

I certainly think Paul was robbed in the first round

He deserved victory and was my driver of the day

I think Matt Neal comes about last. He could not pass Paul O'Neal (his mate by the way) fairly and so he pushed him off. In the second race he made a complete fool of himself at the start and then stalled at the end of the pits. Why do you think he had a good day UKrules?

i was there and from where i was his 1st race was really good untill that incodent lol. the way he built p that lead at the start and the managed to catch up to second after coming out from the pits. i dont think he would have dont that to paul if he had managed to get points at mondello but he couldnt because of pyper and the whole wheel thing. he was just desperat for some points.

I read this on another forum and considered it interesting:

I think Matt Neal has lost the plot. He gets a works drive (for the first time in his life) and thinks that he is going to impress his team with a win. Honda run brilliant advertisements during the advert breaks in the BTTC races, endearing us fans to the product. Matt uses very dubious tactics to get ahead of a Vauxhall that he cannot pass fairly and then gets smug about it after the race. We associate Honda with Matt's dubious tactics and smug attitude. All that money Honda spent is wasted.
Paul O'Neal is as nice as pie in an interview after the race and doesn't say "Neal punted me off". He says "I was hit by a Honda"

Oh dear Matt, you seem to have lost the plot.

by the way when he pushed paul that happened RIGHT in front of where i was standing it was pritty amusing lol but i feel sorry for hughes he did well in that first race as well

Wasn't going to mention Matt Neal, thought I'd test the water a little first and gauge other reactions. Clearly many of us agree. Don't particularly enjoy "Days of Thunder" type driving. At least other exponents of these techniques, Yvan Muller and Anthony Reid exhibit a little more subtlety.

Paul without a doubt!

He is gaining experience and confidence at every meeting.:)

That must have made your day then. :) Do you also go to banger races?

Might just be me, but sometimes Paul seems to be simply grateful to be there, almost in awe of his fellow competitors. He certainly wears his heart on his sleeve. I thought that, listening to his post first race interview this weekend. Mates or not, with a harder racing edge, he might have even had the confidence to invite Matt Neal to participate in a frank exchange of opinion. Many others certainly would have done.

I think Colin T has got to be up there, but if i have to choose then it has to be Michael Bentwood.

As for all this debate about Matt and James T and the overtaking, this is Touring Cars!!! Excellent debate, but this sort of thing always has happened in these races and hopefully always will.

Paul gets my vote, he deserved to win and perhaps Matt played on the fact that Paul isn't all that aggressive and took advantage.
Micheal Bentwood and Luke Hines had two good races and although he was at the back Alan Blencowe did well considering he had a box full of missing gears and nearly got tangled up in the Neal/O'Neill/Muller/Hughes party.

My vote goes for Paul O' Neil, because he drove damn well in both races for two good results, and he deserved the win in race 1.

ditto what Paul just said!

But credit to Michael Bentwood too - two excellent races.

def. Paul for all those reasons.

Spoke to Paul for quite a while at the end of the day and his attitude has changed since last year. Then any result was because someone else didn't beat him. At times I wanted to kick his butt as he was so unsure of his capabilities and was so demeaning of himself. That is no longer the case. He knows he can win and I am sure he will continue to win. His confindence in himself is there and all he needs to do now is be a little more forceful (I won't say aggressive) and he will really go places.

Paul O'Neil

But a big shout out to Muller and Hughes, they keep the crowds were I was standing entertained, especially when they both went sliding down Paddock Hill Bend

Ried did great in the first race to finish 4 second behind form where he started

Muller & Bentwood!

Muller did well to get another 2nd and his first win. 100% finishing record on the podium this year!
Bentwood for winning 3 proddie races in a row!

paul o'neill because he drove brilliently, and luke hines and michael bentwood because they both raced really well in both of the races.
