i think so.. or did he not do 2001 and did ETCC that year?
Plato's done every year apart from 2001 when he did ASCAR?

Not quite: Jason actually became BTCC Champion in 2001! He then left the series until returning in 2004 with SEAT.
Matt made his debut in 1991 at British GP support race in a Pyramid Motorsport BMW M3 (as team-mate to Frank Sytner). He's done every year since but his 94 season was cut short by a huge (and infamous) accident in a Mazda at Silverstone. He also contested the opening rounds of 2001 in a Peugeot but then moved into the ETCC for the remainder of the year (in his Super Touring-spec Nissan Primera as the ETCC was still running to ST regs).
So, of the current crop, certainly Matt has contested most seasons and most races (346).
All time, however, it is probably going to be someone like Andy Rouse who started in the BTCC in 1973 and didn't retire until the end of 1994.

Which means if Matt Neal stays in the BTCC he will only equal / overtake Andy's record in 2012/2013...?

Id say he more than likely surpass that record of Rouse, I want to see an Andy Rouse race as many people say he is the biggest achiever in BTCC History

Was the masters race not outside of the BTCC season?
No, it was staged on Finals Day of 2004 at Donington Park, effectively right after the BTCC's title-deciding final round (another nailbiting finish as Thompson beat Muller to the crown by just one point thanks to setting the fastest race lap - had he not and they'd tied, then Yvan would have been champion due to his greater number of wins).
The Masters race was eventually won by Anthony Reid but, as you can imagine, it was fun and games all the way. SEAT kindly donated the Cupra R models from its one-make championship. This was possible as all the cars were owned/run by SEAT UK - which of course the current cars (the newer Leons) aren't after the series was opened up in 2005 to individual teams to buy/run the cars separately.

that was some night Ed 1, it was almost getting dark as the race started and quite grey, who can forget Patrick Watts rallycrossing the craners and the leaves on track needing a safety car:D remember how few fans stayed as well as the banking was almost empty, ended up hugging 2 female MG fans when Anthony came out of hollywood in the lead. then the long drive home, shap and beatock are lonely places. didnt get home until 1am and as my employer at the time had denied me a days holiday I took a sickie on the monday blaming it on a dodgy egg mayo sarnie from southwaite:D was my 1st time at Donington and the whole atmosphere of the place was amazing. hellfire weekend
