Does anyone think it is time a btcc magazine is produced? They did one for the 1997 season, and it was monthly. I think there would be the interest to try it.

id guess not or they would still be producing it, btcc gets reasonable coverage in the various motor sports publications that are already out there. the off season would be a long barren spell for a one shot mag

you could always instigate one yourself - there's more than enough talent on the fourm - writers, photographers, editors, graphic designers......

The internet has had an affect on magazines. People can find out information from home now.

i've mentioned this before about us lot designing our own - even if we design it as a downloadable magazine rather that one we have to get out in the shops - cheaper for people in the long run

That would be a great idea. Feature could be done on the teams, drivers etc. Having designed and produced a magazine before (in a different field) i would love to help if anyone else is interested?

There were two magazines running during the 90's as well as a poster magazine. As far as I know I have every edition that was printed.
I prefer to have the info in magazines too. I like a solid copy to keep, not just what I can read on the internet.

I know what you mean, and I agree. Although an internet version produced by us, the fans would be good too.

You make some very sound points in those threads, you've convinced me that the only way to do it is online.
Less overheads that way, easier to compile too.

yip sure is danny - the only thing is - who is going to get all the info and where from exactly?

you'd have to compile a "team" of sorts.. as to find out all the information on the btcc on ones own is very tricky! If it's to be web based you should have an appropriate people lined up for the many roles i.e. webmaster, designer, coder, editor etc etc (1 person could have many roles)

'tis a good idea though, feel free to give me a shout if you want some help :)

probably wise not to use too many people though- they will trip over themselves and each other!!!!!!!

Designing / coding the website is the easy bit. There are enough content management packages available that you don't need to be that skilled in HTML anyhow. The tricky bit, as you said, is getting some real content.

Writing an interesting, coherent, unbiased race report is a lot harder that you think. That's without getting all the back-story of what really happened off-track before and after each race.

sorry to put a dampner on it guys but what about copyright laws would the btcc.net allow you to use there logos reamber me and robbo tried to produce a sticker for the forum members and celebrate 50 years of the touring cars but the rules are the rules.

Here's an idea that might be slightly easier to achieve. (With permission from the powers that be obviously ;) )

We could ask for a new section to the forum. On it the "team" could post race reports etc. You could even ask Mr Gow very nicely to see if he could arrange some interviews with the teams which could be added as well?

Only trouble with that, btcc.net already do race reports and interviews themselves. Could well be a conflict of interests there, especially if the amateurs make a decent job of it.:p

If you google the "btcc", this site tops the list and theres a good reason for that. Its the official site, people are paid to compile the reports and such.
Just look at it from their point of view, if somebody wanted to do aspects of your job for free, you probably wouldnt be to keen on the idea after you'd thought about the downsides to it.

There's nothing to say you cant just post a thread to summarise a particular race, in your own words though.

Good point!

Alternatively, are there features that could be requested for this site that would achieve what people are after?

Maybe more in depth info on the teams / cars for example?

or you could try and make up your own btcc website and invite some of us to be "guests" on it to comment about stuff. but i guess the editor wont like that so i better keep me trap closed lol
