Hi Alan

Was just wondering if you have ever had or have in your mind a favourite or most talented driver which you have come across over the years or one that has exercised true sportsmanship over a season?

Also, when would you consider organising another BTCC Master's Race?, I can well understand not having them too close together, I really enjoyed watching the ex-BTCC drivers back racing tin-tops again.

All the Best for your anniversary season !!

I have been asked that question many times, but I really don't have a particular favourite driver from the BTCC. There have been quite a few, over the years, that have demonstrated many of the qualities you mention (although not necessarily all at the same time).

However, by far the most talented driver I have ever had the pleasure to personally deal with and witness was Peter Brock (Australia). He had that very rare and special gift of possessing enormous natural ability - he could literally drive any car, in any event, better and faster than anyone else. Racing, rallying, rallycross, off-road, hillclimbs - in sports cars, touring cars, 4WD's or open-wheelers......whatever the car and event, he excelled in it. And, on top of that, he was a really great guy - the public adored him and he was a genuine sporting hero of the nation. The motorsport world lost someone very special when he died in 2006.

Yes I would certainly like to arrange another Masters race again, sometime in the future. But the problem will always be finding the quality and number of identical cars needed, which are all prepared to the exact same standard, and being able to cover the considerable costs in putting it all together.
