Alfa Romeo, Along with Fiat and other companies owned a parts of Ferrari for a long time now, And Fiat never entered the BTCC as far as im aware, So im taking a guess that it was 1994

The last time Alfa entered was 1995 with Derek Warwick and Simeone, I forget his first name.

I meant Alfa as a manufactorer in general, I am aware that Alfa left the BTCC in 1994 after winning, But a team kept the cars and used them in 1995, As you told me ;)

Oh sorry. I thought it was still a manufacturer in 1995.

Ok, as nobody has answered, it was Amato Ferrari, who raced a Sierra Cosworth in 1990 occasionally. :D :p
Do you see what I did there? ;)

Nearly but not quite. Alfa continued in '95 as a full manufacturer team, simply with Prodrive running their cars. Drivers were defending champion Gabriele Tarquini, Giampiero Simoni and Derek Warwick.

Gabriele didn't defend his title tho. He only did a couple of meetings later on in the season.

You're splitting hairs there. He as the previous season's champion, was still the defending champion, whether he did no races, 1 race or 26.

Well at least I had the general idea :)
Now about this defending champion!
Plato won the BTCC Title in 2001, But he didnt compete in 2002, Does that make him a defending champion or does it make a title up for grabs?
Same goes for Thompson in 2004:confused:

I understand what you mean mate.
All Plato fans will be saying that, But in reality Gio is still defending champ :)
But I have a feeling it wont be Gio or Plato taking the crown in 2008
