We have a range of classes here that are just for showroom cars.
There is 3 classes and there is engine size in each class

The production class has 3 classes.

4cyl upto 2.5ltr
6yl (family sedans)
Turbo 4 and normal V8's (2 x supercharged Mini's have entered)

The performance class.

WRX, RX7, EVO's hot V8 Falcons and Commodores.

Nations Cup:

Vipers, Ferraris, Porsche, Monaro, Lamborgini and any exotic. etc

My mates and I are trying to put a MX5SP turbo (locally made oz) together for this season but are budget is $100k(au) and we are getting there.

The nearest we have to that are the Clios. They use a road engine dont they?

I think the nearest we have to that in the UK is production saloons or whatever the latest incarnation of that happens to be called. Keeps on changing, so it is easy to lose track.

However, drivers like Matt Neal made their names in production-based series, so they're certainly not to be discounted.

I seem to remember that proddie saloons used to run on the F3 and TVR Tuscan support packages before the Powertour / F3-GT days.

I agree with Bramble - I think the Clios do use a road engine (at least in the UK Clio Cup).

(later)
...in fact having just checked the Renault website, you can buy three versions of road-going Clio in the UK - one of which is the Clio Renaultsport 172, which uses the same engine as the race car.
