Just a hypothetical thing amongst ourselves, only to invite opinion really. Shall we call the best moment/manoevre of the day, the champagne moment ? For me, it was James Thompson saving his Vauxhall from ending up in the countryside at very high speed. Not as good as Priaulx last year at Knockhill, or Warren Hughes and Yvan Muller playing "speedway" at Paddock Hill Bend two weeks ago, but getting there. Perhaps this could be a feature of each meeting on the forum.

I agree with you there Stig. That was an amazing save from Thommo when you consider He was probably travelling in excess of 100mph, a real heart-in-mouth moment.
One of the highlights of the day for me was Aaron Slight doing donuts, on the trackside apron at the complex, after finishing third in the Porsche race. That's entertainment!

I was amazed at how Thommo held that slide! With a rear wheel drive car it would have been easier. Tim Harvey was well impressed!

Another champagne moment was in the GT Heritage race when the little Triumph TR5 kept outbraking the massive american muscle car into the corners only to be blasted away on the straights! He was giving it 110%!

my champagne moment....
Tom running as fast as he could away from John Batchelor who had a loaded bottle of champers..... very good turn of speed, manovering and braking skills

Almost forgot to mention, "the champagne moment" is The Stig's shameless borrowing of an idea from BBC radio Test Match Special. Not all my own work, I wish it were. Anyway you get the idea. Trust a lady to take me literally, cheers Les!!

I have just got around to watching the Motors TV coverage, have got as far as the end of the first touring car race. My vote goes to James Thompson for that amazing save!

How about Dave Pinkneys run back through the field in the Porsche race on Monday. Hardly a "moment" I agree (lasting from about the third lap to the end of the race) but an excellent run of which Dave should be proud.
I also gather Phil Bennett was having fun in the Heritage A-M he was running. He was apparently throwing the car through the chicane with great fervour! Unfortunately he was not even mentioned in the Motors TV coverage.:(

Mmay be a bit boring, but the best moment of my day was seeing that Edwards, Reid, Hughes and Collard were all ok after that crash

hear hear!
Eventually got round to watching it on the box - it shows how strong those cars are. Jim was so unlucky is get caught up in it.
The speed at which Collards car went across the track was phenomenal - it was really lucky that more cars were not caught up in it.

I bet we could go through the entire regulation freeze ('til 2006) without one mistake ending up with a Touring car spinning more than 180degrees.
My champagne moment has to be Boardman, I think taking the lead at Church. Good luck Tom.

Remember when Ried had a similar momment to Thommo ;last year whilst ahead of Neal at church, and went sliding into the grass. In the interview after Neal was also stunned and imprssed that Ried managed to gather it all together, and still tried to have anpother lunge at hime at the next corner
