Just a quick warning to anyone setting their videos in advance, or wondering why there was no programme on Saturday.
I'm not sure why the coverage is on Sunday. Hopefully it will prove beneficial in terms of figures, as it follows the Grand Prix.

I thought there was rugby or something on between F1 and the BTCC on Sunday?
Would be nice and easy if they were on back-to-back... :(

Ta, for the reminder.
If I looked on Saturday and didn't see it I may think those bugas at HTV would have dropped it!

Someone needs to tell the webmaster of TOCA site, as it still says Saturday.... TOCA/ITV do these people talk to each other?

The rugby was put in the middle to prevent the Touring Cars clashing with World Superbikes on BBC2 - they found that last year if the Touring Cars was on at the same time as Superbikes or MotoGP it lost nearly half a million viewers.

I spent rather a long time staring at the Radio Times trying to work out why I couldn't see the coverage before I spotted it on Sunday!
I'm going to need a long tape to fit everything on - I just hope the GP doesn't over run!

I would rather watch Touring cars anyday compared with crappy bikes...

wow finally some planning!! Hopefully channel four will learn from this brilliant bit of thinking and stop putting their motorsport on at the same time as BBC and ITV's!!

You of course have a good point Ann - but it isn't really the best way to encourage people to watch motorsport is it?
Unless one is an insomniac of course!!:D

Hmm - according to my local rag there's no BTCC at all this weekend in Scotland...which is a pity as I'm at Knockhill so was going to video the grand prix and the BTCC.
As I've got Sky Digital I can recieve other ITV regions so could video it! but I aint even gonna start to try and explain that one to the folks...

In Scotland it's on at 02:50 Sunday night/Monday morning.

Oh. How thoughtful!
First they have the Knockhill round taken away from them, now they have highlights on in the middle of the night. :(
It's no way to try and encourage enthusiasm in this sport in Scotland is it?

You are not kidding! I dont have a VTR to tape it either thanks a lot ITVS.
Time to move the (pretty amateurish) coverage from ITV to Ch4. Look at F3 and GT on 4 for some well edited highlights (spoilt by some cardboard presenting :D ). Not to mention some decent intro credits. Can't help but think of a crap double glazing advert when it comes on!

I wouldn't describe the F3 and GT as well edited - the F3 is better than the GT, but neither are brilliant.
Presentation and commentary on C4 both very stilted - you need people with charisma and ITV have managed to find excellent combinations, first with Ben and Will and now with Ben and Tim.
The ITV touring cars programme also gives you a great sense of the excitement - the behind the scenes features provide great insight into what it's like to be at the circuit.
F3 on 4 is just bland in comparison...Admitedly they don't have a great product to work with - there just isn't the same electric atmosphere, and general buzz in the F3 paddock that you find with TOCA - but I'm sure if they tried they could get some more imaginitive features.

Really? So they can show a half-hour programme at 7 in the morning if you're lucky, and 2 or 3 in the morning if you're not.

I think Nitromaster is saying that Channel 4 isn't really committed to showing motorsport at times when people are going to watch it, and that their programmes are too short.
...while ITV show the three major championships that they cover in weekend afternoon slots and subsequently get millions of viewers, compared with Channel 4's 150,000.

Even the WRC gets pushed around...
I just wondered how CH4's coverage of F3 could be considered better than ITV's coverage of the BTCC, bearing in mind that the F3 programme is shorter and on at a strange time nation-wide. I wouldn't have said F3 was 'well edited' either.

Rarely seen the F3000 coverage on ITV in Scotland - I don't know if STV even bother with it that much..

STV show it - they have to as it's a condition of the F1 contract.

OK so 'well edited' were the wrong words to use. But the half hour slot seems to me to be better presented (apart from that boring link guy in F3, the commentary is good) and full of race action. I'd have to say that the quality of presenting isn't a top priority for me It's naff commentary that bugs me. Of course I would like to see BTCC on for 50-60 mins uninterrupted.
Yes I agree WRC is on at silly times and its really annoying. I actually like waking up at 7am to watch F3/GT...call me crazy :D
I actually caught F3000 but that must have been on cable.
Unfortunately MotorsTV who are the only channel 'commited' to motorsport isnt available for most people. Fortunately I hope to be able to receive it sometime soon in the future.
Edit:
....Actually you know what it is? It's actually seeing motorsport at all that I enjoy, having not had cable before and having been starved of it for years I'm mostly happy with anything lol. Lets face it unless it gets hugely popular (like F1 zzzzzzz) major channels won't have time for it. Roll on MotorsTv.
