Does anyone think if he wins the Title again this year that it could be his Final year in the BTCC? Will he go back to the WTCC? as he got anytime left on his Vauxhall contract after this year?

If he wins the title again this year then im sure VXR will want to keep hold of him, also dont write off Matt Neal just yet as he's getting consistent results of late.

As long as he keeps on Winning Titles, I imagine VXR are going to try their Best to keep a hold off him,

Personally i would like him to stay for atleast another Season, So so he can get 100 BTCC races, and also break into the Top 10 Winners of all time.

Hi

Hmmm tuff call, think he will stay at vxr,if his contract is up at the end of the season and he does leave vxr can't see him going to any other team within the BTCC so he will properly go back to WTCC:cool: :) :)

I hope Gio stays around for at least another season;John Cleland stuck around for ages with Vauxhall before he won the title in 1995 and even then he hung on a bit longer.

I can;t see VXR letting him go just yet!!:)

He raced at BMW in 2003 in WTCC. But why would he want to switch back from fwd to rwd as he seems to be more suited to FWD. Also if he wins the championship again this year i dont see why he shouldnt sign another contract for VXR, he's obviously enjoying his time in the BTCC and VXR are providing him with the best car to do it in.

i doubt he will move cos he said in autosport at start of year he wants to settle down in a championship in one country (england) for a long time.

obsessivecompulsive: not one for going off topic but just noticed your signature. Jean Alesi didn't make his F1 debut until 1989 - I should know, I was there (French GP, Paul Ricard, driving a Tyrrell). :D

I doubt Giovanardi will leave the BTCC for the WTCC. He won the vast majority of his titles in Alfa Romeo cars. His single season driving a rear wheel drive BMW was his worst and he went back to Alfa the season afterwards.

Since Alfa themselves are no longer in the WTCC, I can't see the attraction, unless of course James Thompson and N technology get something special from the Honda Accord, I've wondered because of James's success in the Alfa last year whether him and Giovanardi have similar styles and maybe would make excellent team mates?

Other than BMW and Honda, there's only Chevy and Seat. I doubt Chevy would be a good move, especially since theres a new car due in 2009 or 2010, and Seat already have 4 excellent drivers in Tarquini, Rydell, Y Muller and Gene.

I reckon he will stay in the BTCC with VXR for several years.

I think that Giovanardi would want to finish his racing career in the BTCC, and not move any where else

Rydell with his swedish shuffle as Charlie Cox used to call it at Thruxton lol.

Foreign drivers just seem to like joking around and having fun a lot more than british drivers. Although we have got Mike Jordan and he would take some beating in the fun department lol.
