What happened to the curb cam at church that was used in the ST coverage - I loved that angle..... don't recall seeing it lately though

Twas a BHP Sport thing... sadly these days all they seem to do is put cameras where is necessary rather than also in interesting places. All cost related I suppose, yet things like that can make a programme so much more entertaining. :(

Just had another thought....... remember the last round of 2002 - we had a helicopter camera - I thought that was going to be a regular thing this season, but.... no!

Helicopter couldn't fly in Ireland because of the weather.
No helicopter at Brands because of CART
No helicopter at Thruxton because of Air Traffic Control restrictions.

There will also be no helicopter at Rockingham, because it's pointless, frankly.

Another promised feature that has been missing from the television coverage this year are the safety and medical car cameras.

Why would one want cameras in the Safety and Medical cars?

A rear view in the Safety Car perhaps, but the Doctors car? Most of the time (hopefully) it does nothing anyway!

Funny as it may sound, you do get some very interesting interior shots in the medical car! I remember seeing the French GP on digital last year and the sight of Sid Watkins and Fisichella looking terrified out of their skin as the car tore round the circuit was quite a story!

a helmet cam would be good i allso remember in the WRC a camera beeing mounted under a car looking and one of the front brake discs very cool..

I think one of the best camera angles was from 1999 brands when the had that camera man up on the cherry picker over at padock hill bet id was windy up there !!

I agree. i think we need more interesting camera angles, even if it was only available for the highlights it would still be good. I loved wing mirror cam last year at mondello, very good and i can remember curb cam too!

I agree with Alan, it's just pointless.
Remember that when they edit the races for highlights, the first thing they are going to lose is laps behind the safety car.

F1 digital was shut down because they were spending so much money on things which were nice, but not really necessary - we don't want coverage of Touring Cars, which is currently better than at any time in the past - to go the same way.

A helmet cam like the one they use in CART would be really cool, can't see many drivers jumping at the chance to carry one though.

That depends which way the camera is pointing! If it is at the driver and observer ~ I can see what Brian and Charlie are up to!
:p

A helmet camera would be really good for some of the team features they do. For example, it would have worked well in the Matt Neal feature they did at Snetterton last year.
