There is loads still to be decided at the Brands finale, which is going to make it a superb days racing. As well as the main titles up for grabs, there are battles for pride still to be held. Still up for grabs is:
Championship Winner
01 F. Giovanardi 261
02 Jason Plato 217
3rd Place
03 Colin Turkington 188
04 Mat Jackson 185
Independents Title
01 Colin Turkington 293
02 Mat Jackson 271
03 Adam Jones 253
2nd Highest Vauxhall
05 Matt Neal 165
06 Tom Onslow-Cole 155
2nd Highest Seat
08 Darren Turner 129
09 Adam Jones 119
So what are your predictions and thoughts for each of the scenarios still to be decided . . . .
I think:
Championship Winner: I reckon Gio all the way. The 44 point gap means all he needs to do is get in the top 4 in race 1 (assuming Plato gets pole, then wins with fastest lap) and he is champion. If not wait till race 2 and same sort of scenario. I cant see, baring major disaster, Gio throwing the title away, hes a too clever driver.
3rd Place: Really couldnt be closer could it, and i reckon it all boils down to how Jackson does i qualifying. A decent qualfying run for a change and it will be down to who is the better racer on the day and who gets the luck. A poor qualfying run and he could be stuck down the order and Turkington walk away with it.
Independents: For Jackson to win it he needs at least one Turkington DNF and then to beat him in the other racers with other independent drivers between them. This is a tall ask for him but he is still in with a chance. Jones is just too far back.
2nd Highest Vauxhall: This could be really interesting. Neal came into Vauxhall with people talking of him being a potential championship challenger, but if he has a bad round at Brands, TOC could easily make up the 10 points and jump ahead of Neal. Im sure at the begining of the year no one would expect that and it would be a huge shock for the young charger to beat the wiley old fox.
2nd Highest Seat: How cheeky would it be for the old petrol car to beat the new diesel in the champonship :) I know Turner has had mechanical issues and bad luck but Jones has always been there and there abouts and would truly deserve to beat one of the new cars in the points and maybe show Seat he should have a works drive. Like TOC above, if Turner has a bad round, 10 points isnt that hard to make up.
