On the site with the blue backround, it has a guide to the layout the BTCC cars are using. It looks quit good, with I think nearly half of the actual oval used.
Any one taking bets to count how many of the cars end up in the wall?

They can only use turn 4 of the oval, down the start finish straight then cut back onto the pit exit before turn 1. Am I right in thinking it's the international layout they're using? Those hairpins will be interesting.

none - they bounce right off it!
Actually I was very anti the wall thinking it was very dangerous but a lot of people have said the opposite to me. The cars that do hit it by driving too close and mis judging it do so at such a low angle that they slide along it.
The others that are pushed in to it are comparable to hitting an armco or tyre wall.
or were they trying to make me feel better???

nope thats pretty much what happens - last weekend at the ASCAR's a Truck in 2nd place skimmed the wall from going wide in turn 1, it looked nasty, a lot of dust; but by the end of the lap he was leading!

You could say they use around half the oval, but they will make use of the oval pit exit instead of using turn 1 and don't use turn 2, the back straight or turn 3 at all. The cars will come pass you whatever stand you are sitting in.
For game players, the International circuit is included in Toca Race Driver.
As for the wall: sitting on the left-hand side of the car is recommended...

Err, no, it depends as to what the original cause of the crash is... (in terms of ASCAR anyway)
You'll slide along it if you understeer into the wall - seen quite a few trucks and ASCARs do that in the last season and a half - it is easier to catch hold of.
If you go in sideways or backwards (tagged by another car or oversteer) you'll bite the concrete good and proper. *ouch*

That seems about right Reynard.
The thought also occurs that the ASCAR cars are all left hand drive for a very good reason! Some of the touring cars are right hand drive:(
There is also a big difference between the construction of an ASCAR (brick ****house) and a touring car.
I do think that the drivers, in all the series, will have to develop a healthy respect for the walls QUICKLY.
Matt Neal can tell them all about it!!!!
Hands up who will be checking the paintwork on the offside for scuffing after testing and qualifying.:D

if the cars could not withstand a good hard smack of the wall they wouldnt be racing there. i'm sure they'll all be fine!
